my current rails are rattling so bad on my Discovery 4 and honestly Im fed up with the noise. so I was thinking the Thule ones would work but my logic was flawed cause they dont seem sturdy enough for a real load. need something solid before my Moab trip next Friday under $1200... what actually stays quiet?
TL;DR: Snag the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform with Backbone Mounting System for Discovery 4. Its amazing and fits your budget! Super quiet even at high speeds and totally solid for Moab.
TL;DR: Skip Thule and grab the Front Runner Slimline II Roof Rack Kit Land Rover Discovery 3/4. Unfortunately, Thule setups are disappointing and not as good as expected for real off-roading. I had similar issues with them rattling like crazy on my D4. The Front Runner is about $1,050 and rock solid. Its way quieter and wont budge when you hit Moab. Definitely worth the cash.
Jumping in here... unfortunately, my first rack setup was not as good as expected and I had issues with vibration that actually loosened my bolts mid-trip. It was pretty scary tbh. Before you pull the trigger on anything else:
