My car literally broke down on the 405 yesterday and I am so done with it. I really want a Lexus ES because they look so nice but my budget is only like $35,000 max. My friend told me I should look for something called certified pre-owned or CPO but honestly I have no idea what that actually is or how it works. Is it just a used car? I live near Northridge and I need a new ride by next Friday for work. Sorry if this is a total newbie question but does anyone know if there are any of those certified ES models actually sitting on lots near LA right now? I dont even know which dealerships to call...

Check out Lexus of Northridge or Keyes Lexus in Van Nuys. They usually have a solid stock of the Lexus ES 350 3.5L V6 Sedan around that 35k mark. Honestly, the L/Certified warranty is amazing and I've been super satisfied with mine. Since you need it by Friday, just look for that tag on their sites today. Those lots are pretty big so you'll definitely find something.

TL;DR: Northridge has stock. My Lexus ES 350 3.5L V6 was $33,500. CPO adds a 161-point inspection and 2 years of unlimited mileage warranty after the factory expires. Theyre solid.

Ugh, the 405 is actually the worst place to break down, glad you're okay tho. My old car started acting up a while back, so I went the CPO route and I've been super satisfied with the peace of mind. Honestly, for $35k you can find some gems near Northridge if you're careful. Just a few things to keep an eye on when you're browsing:
- check the tires for uneven wear even on a certified car
- make sure the battery health is verified if you look at a Lexus ES 300h Hybrid
- verify that all safety recalls were actually completed Choosing the hybrid version was the right move for me because sitting in LA traffic was killing my wallet. It's been working well for over a year with no complaints. Definitely take your time looking at the service history even if the salesperson says it's perfect... you just gotta be sure before you sign anything.
