I just got my first big car ever its a Lincoln Navigator L and honestly its huge like a literal boat on wheels. Im so excited because we have three kids and we usually cram into an old Camry so this is a massive upgrade for our road trips across Texas this summer! But the thing is I have no clue how to keep it nice or what I should even buy to make the inside better. I see people talking about floor things and seat protectors but I am a complete newbie at this stuff and I dont want to buy the wrong thing and waste money.
I have about 500 dollars saved up right now for some cool interior stuff but I dont even know where to start looking or what brands are actually good for this model. Like do I need those heavy rubber mats for the floor or should I get something fancy that looks like leather? And what about keeping the back organized because with three kids it is going to be a disaster in like two days lol. Sorry if these are really basic questions I just feel a bit out of my depth with such a fancy car and I really want it to stay looking new for as long as possible. What are the absolute must have accessories for the inside of a big Navigator like this?
Like someone mentioned, that trunk organizer is a lifesaver but you gotta be careful with the middle rows too. With three kids, the back of your front seats are gonna get kicked to death... honestly its the first thing i noticed in my own truck. Kids just cant help but put their feet up. I would suggest looking into some protection for the seats and the screen because that Navigator display is basically a giant fingerprint magnet and expensive to fix if it gets scratched. Here is how I see the options for your budget:
Pros: super cheap, easy to wipe down, stops the mud. Cons: they look a bit basic for such a fancy car and might feel a bit flimsy. Warning: make sure to tighten the straps or they sag and look messy.
Pros: prevents scratches from toys or sticky fingers, keeps the glass looking brand new. Cons: can be a bit tricky to install without getting bubbles underneath. I'd say this is a must-have because kids love touching screens with whatever they have in their hands.
Pros: keeps the juice boxes and wrappers from ending up in the door pockets. Cons: takes up a little leg room in the back. Tbh, I would stay away from the cheap universal stuff at big box stores. It never fits right in a car this size. Just be careful not to overspend on the leather-look stuff right away... get the basics first and see how the kids treat the car before dropping the full $500.
Congrats on the new ride. Honestly, skip those fancy leather-looking mats. They look nice for a week then get trashed by snacks and mud. In my experience, if you want it to last, you need heavy-duty stuff that fits the floor pans perfectly. I have used many brands over the years but WeatherTech FloorLiner DigitalFit Lincoln Navigator L Full Set is the gold standard for a reason. They have high edges so when a kid spills a juice box it stays in the mat and doesnt soak your carpet. You also need seat protectors under those car seats or boosters. Leather gets indented and ruined fast without them. I usually go with Lusso Gear Car Seat Protector Heavy Duty Waterproof because it actually stays in place and doesnt slide around. Spend your budget on protection first, then worry about gadgets later. Trust me, keeping the carpet dry and the seats clean is the most important thing for the long run.
@Reply #3 - good point! Honestly, the screen thing is so true. I learned the hard way with my first Navigator that kids treat every surface like a coloring book. One time my youngest decided to use a rogue marker on the leather... total nightmare! I realized pretty fast that keeping a big rig like this nice is all about being proactive. My current setup is basically a fortress now lol. Here is what I have learned over the years to keep these boats looking sharp:
Utilizing a Drive Auto Products Large Car Trunk Organizer is a methodical approach to managing that cargo space. Its a reliable option for securing gear and keeping the interior tidy.
