Just picked up a Navigator L for our move from NY to Austin in a few weeks and I am honestly terrified of the kids trashing the leather. I looked at WeatherTech mats but they look so industrial and plasticky for a luxury interior.
I saw TuxMat too but some people say they get really slippery when wet and now im just overthinking the whole thing. I have about 800 bucks to spend on protection like floor mats or seat covers but I dont want it to look tacky. Does anyone have specific brands that actually fit the L model right and dont ruin the vibe...
Im super satisfied with 3D MAXpider Kagu Floor Mats Custom Fit. Theyre way classier than WeatherTech FloorLiner kits and honestly less slippery than my old TuxMat Custom Floor Mats tho...
> I have about 800 bucks to spend on protection like floor mats or seat covers Ive owned a few Navigators and floor protection is only part of the mess. For seats, I tried Lusso Gear Car Seat Protector for Leather Seats but they shifted too much on the smooth leather. Switched to Diono Ultra Mat Car Seat Protector with Organizers because the rubber backing stays put better. It prevents those nasty permanent car seat indents which basically ruins your resale value...
Unfortunately, most custom fits for the L model are just stretched versions of the standard Navigator mats and the tolerances are garbage. I had issues with the edges lifting after a few months of use... basically ruined the premium look. I eventually gave up on the plastic stuff and went for Lloyd Mats Luxe Custom Fit Floor Mats. The 48 oz pile weight is double what most OEMs use, so it actually dampens road noise too. Heres a couple tips for the L specifically:
I have been down this rabbit hole with my Navigator for months and the choice fatigue is real. Honestly, you gotta be careful with some of those all-weather mats because half of them feel like youre standing on a cheap storage bin. I would suggest looking at Husky Liners X-act Contour Floor Mats instead of the usual suspects. They use a much softer rubberized material that feels way more premium than the hard plastic stuff, and they dont slide around as much. Since youre doing a big move with kids, you might want to consider Covercraft SeatSaver Custom Seat Covers for the middle row. Theyre heavy-duty polycotton so they arent as fancy as the leather, but they breathe way better than neoprene and you can just toss them in the wash when you get to Austin. Just make sure to get the ones specifically for the L model or the headrest covers wont fit right. Ngl, its better to spend the cash now than cry over a melted crayon later...
Man I wish I found this thread sooner. Would have saved me so much hassle.
