im so confused with this new lincoln corsair grand touring and charging it is stressing me out i have no idea what to buy for my garage in ohio. i need:
do i need a special wall box or just a cable? sorry if this is dumb...
To add to the point above: totally agree that you dont need a fancy setup! I love saving cash. Since the Corsair is capped anyway, check these out:
Just catching up... be careful and make sure its safety certified. I would suggest the AmazingE Level 2 EV Charging Station 16A. Check out the PlugShare app for more reviews.
You definitely dont need a complex wall box for the Corsair Grand Touring. Since it is a plug-in hybrid with a 14.4 kWh battery, the onboard charger is limited to around 3.3 kW. This means the car itself decides how fast it can take power, so spending a ton of money on a high-end 50-amp station is basically overkill. I have been very satisfied with a simple Level 2 portable setup for my own garage. It provides a full charge in about 3 to 4 hours, which is plenty fast for a PHEV. Honestly, just look for a reliable 240V cable that fits a standard NEMA 14-50 outlet. I recommend the Lectron Level 2 EV Charger 240V 32 Amp NEMA 14-50 because it is affordable and incredibly easy to use. You just plug it in and youre done. If you want something a bit more rugged for those Ohio winters, the Grizzl-E Classic Level 2 EV Charger 40 Amp NEMA 14-50 is a fantastic choice. It is built like a tank and handles temperature swings really well. Both of these are usually under $400 and ship quickly. Basically, you want to avoid the standard 120V wall plug that comes with the car because it takes way too long to charge. Moving to Level 2 makes a world of difference for the daily driving experience. I have had no complaints with this approach... it keeps things simple and efficient without breaking the bank.
