I just picked up a new Mazda3 Hatchback and I'm loving the interior, but I’m really worried about scuffing up the carpet in the cargo area. Between hauling groceries, occasional muddy hiking gear, and some gardening supplies, the trunk is going to take a beating. I've looked at the OEM Mazda all-weather tray, but I’ve also seen WeatherTech and Husky Liners mentioned online. I’m looking for something that fits perfectly without sliding around and has a decent lip to catch spills. For those of you who have a Gen 4 hatch, which liner are you using and how is the durability? Also, does it still allow easy access to the spare tire area? I’d love to hear your recommendations!
Seconding the recommendation above regarding the tall lip! Honestly, I've spent way too much time looking at the technical specs for these since I'm still kinda new to the hatch life. I actually started with the Mazda Genuine Accessories BCKA-V0-360 Cargo Tray because I wanted that perfect OEM look, but unfortunately, it's not as good as expected for gardening stuff. The material is a bit thinner than I liked and the lip isn't very high, so dirt just spills right over onto the carpet... so annoying lol.
I ended up doing a bit of a market comparison between that and the 3D MAXpider KAGU Series Cargo Liner M1MZ0761309 which has this cool carbon fiber texture.
1. OEM: Best fit and looks the cleanest, but poor liquid/dirt retention.
2. 3D MAXpider: Way better grip (it literally doesn't move) and much deeper channels for spills.
Both still let you get to the spare tire easily tho! Basically, if you're doing muddy hiking stuff, go with the 3D MAXpider. Good luck with the new ride!! 👍
Seconding the recommendation above for sure! Honestly, the OEM ones look great but unfortunately they're kinda pricey if you're on a budget. I actually had issues with the fitment of some generic mats I tried first, so don't waste your money there lol. If you want a cheaper alternative that still fits the Gen 4 perfectly, check out the 3D MAXpider KAGU Series Cargo Liner M1MZ0701. It has a more carpet-like texture so stuff doesn't slide around as much as the rubber ones, plus it's way easier on the wallet than WeatherTech! peace
sooo i just got my hatch recently too and i'm literally obsessed!! honestly, for your situation, I would suggest just going with the OEM stuff from Mazda. it basically fits like a glove and stays put perfectly. i mean, it makes the cargo area look so clean and i can still get to the spare tire no problem! i havent tried the others but i LOVE how this one looks tbh!!
Sooo, I actually spent like way too much time researching this when I got my hatch 3 months ago lol. For your situation, I would suggest checking out the WeatherTech Cargo Liner 401292 for Mazda3 Hatchback. It has a super tall lip that's perfect for gardening messes or if a grocery bag leaks... tbh it saved my carpet twice already. The Husky Liners WeatherBeater Cargo Liner 28551 is another solid choice because it's a bit more rubbery so things don't slide around as much as the harder plastic ones.
I went with the WeatherTech and I'm honestly really satisfied with the fit, though you do gotta lift it up to get to the spare. It's not a HUGE deal but kinda annoying if you have stuff on top. The Mazda OEM one is thinner, which makes spare access easier, but the lip isn't as deep for big spills. Good luck choosing!! 👍
Works great for me
