So I finally pulled the trigger on a cx-90 phev and its coming next week so im scrambling to get stuff ready before our first family road trip to the poconos. Im mostly worried about the cargo area since we have two big dogs and that white leather is making me nervous. I checked out those tuxmat liners because everyone raves about them but i cant tell if they play nice with the third row folded down?
Also for charging i keep seeing the grizzly-e mentioned but it feels like overkill for a phev battery compared to just using the wall outlet. i have about 500 bucks left in my budget for accessories right now. what cargo mats or chargers are actually worth the money for this car?
I have lived with the CX-90 for a while now and honestly, you might want to consider how those dogs will impact that white leather before you let them anywhere near the cabin. Its gorgeous but incredibly unforgiving with paws. For the cargo area, you should be careful with the TuxMat setup. While they look premium, they dont always offer the best flexibility if you frequently flip just one half of the third row down for extra gear.
Ive tried many setups over the years. Honestly:
@Reply #5 - good point! Tbh I was in the same boat with the dogs and the cargo space. If you want to keep that white leather pristine without spending a fortune, im really satisfied with the Smartliner Custom Fit Cargo Liner Mazda CX-90. It covers the floor perfectly and handles mud way better than the factory carpet mats. Since youre doing a DIY approach to save cash, grab a kit of Gyeon Q2 LeatherShield and coat those seats yourself before the trip. Its a total game changer for white interiors because liquids and dirt just bead right off... basically makes the leather bulletproof. For charging, a big wall station is definitely too much for our battery size. Ive been using the Megear Level 2 EV Charger 16 Amp for a few months now and it works well. It charges the car fully overnight and its portable enough to toss in the back for your Poconos trip. Whole setup will probably only set you back like 350 bucks if you shop around.
^ This. Also, I feel your pain on that budget. Honestly its a scam that quality is tanking while prices skyrocket... I disagree that these big brands are actually worth it anymore.
