Hey everyone, I just took delivery of my new 992 and I'm absolutely loving it, but I feel like the interior is missing that little extra 'wow' factor when you open the doors at night. I’m currently looking for some solid recommendations for illuminated door sills. I've been eyeing the official Porsche Tequipment options in brushed aluminum or carbon fiber, but the price tag is pretty steep.
I’m curious if anyone here has gone with the OEM route or if there are high-quality aftermarket alternatives that integrate well with the car's electronics. I really want something that looks factory-installed—I'm a bit worried about the battery-operated ones looking cheap or the adhesive failing over time. Also, for those who have them, how difficult was the wiring process? I’m trying to decide if this is a DIY project I can handle in my garage or if I should just bite the bullet and pay the dealership for the install.
Has anyone installed the personalized versions with custom text? I’d love to hear about the durability and if the illumination stays bright after a year or two of use. What brands or specific models would you recommend for a clean, high-end look?
ngl I tried saving money with some aftermarket ones I found online and honestly... it was a mistake.
1. The adhesive was basically trash and they started peeling after like two months.
2. Wiring was a total nightmare cuz the instructions were super vague.
3. The light actually dimmed sooo fast!!
I mean, the Tequipment price is insane but my current setup looks kinda cheap now. Stick to OEM if you can swing it tbh.
