Hey everyone! I finally took the plunge and picked up a brand new Ram 1500 TRX last weekend. This truck is an absolute beast, and I’m still grinning every time I hear that supercharger whine. However, now that it’s sitting in my driveway, I’m realizing there are a few things I probably need to add right away to keep it in top shape and make it a bit more practical for daily use.

I’m looking for recommendations on the 'day one' essentials. I’ve already been looking at some heavy-duty floor liners to handle the dirt, but I’m really torn on bed protection—should I go with a specific tonneau cover that won't interfere with the bed rails, or stick to a spray-in liner? Also, given the height of this thing, I’m considering some high-quality rock sliders or power steps that can actually handle off-road abuse without losing ground clearance. Security is another big concern for me since these trucks are such high-theft targets, so I'm curious if anyone has installed specific trackers or hood locks that they trust.

I want to avoid cluttering it with cheap gear and focus on high-quality upgrades that actually add value. For those of you who have had yours for a while, what are the absolute must-have accessories you’d recommend for a new owner to install first?

sooo congrats on the TRX, that supercharger whine is literally addictive haha! Before I give advice, i gotta ask... are you actually planning on doing some serious rock crawling or mostly sticking to fire roads and pavement? honestly asking cuz it changes the technical advice and the budget big time.

In my experience over the years, you dont always need to drop $3k on boutique sliders if ur not actually pivot-turning on boulders. For security, these trucks are huge targets, so you gotta be smart without overspending.

* Bed protection: Get a Line-X Spray-In Bedliner for durability, but look at a Tyger Auto T3 Soft Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover if ur just looking to keep gear dry for under $300.
* Interior: Husky Liners Weatherbeater Floor Mats are usually way cheaper than the big-name competitors and honestly fit better in the Ram footwells imo.
* Security: Get a Faraday Bag for Key Fobs right now. It's a $10 fix that stops the most common relay thefts... pretty much a no-brainer.

Let me know about ur off-road plans tho!

Hmm, I've had a different experience with those soft covers. In my experience, they just dont offer enough protection for a TRX if your worried about security. I'd suggest a hard cover like the BAK BAKFlip MX4 Hard Folding Truck Bed Cover or the RetraxPRO XR Retractable Truck Bed Cover. The MX4 is simpler, but the Retrax is super durable. Also, for *real* safety, you should definitely install the Ravelco Anti-Theft Device. Better safe than sorry!

Man, that first drive is just something else, isnt it? I still remember my first weekend with mine, I was so obsessed with that supercharger whine that I completely forgot how much debris these 35s kick up. After one quick trip through some light gravel, my rear quarter panels looked like theyd been through a war zone! Seriously, if you want to save your paint without spending thousands on full-body PPF right away, grab some WeatherTech No-Drill Mud Flaps for Ram 1500 TRX immediately. Theyre super affordable and honestly a total lifesaver for the rocker panels. For security, I know people love the high-end kill switches, but a simple Mopar Hood Lock 82215349 is a fantastic, cost-effective first step to keep thieves away from your horn and battery. Also, if youre worried about bed access but dont want to drop $2k on heavy power steps that might get crushed off-road, I love the AMP Research BedStep 75324-01A. It tucks away perfectly so you dont lose any ground clearance when youre hitting the dirt, but makes jumping in the back way easier. Love seeing another TRX on the road, enjoy every second of it!!
