Hey guys! I just took delivery of my new Ram 1500 TRX and I’m beyond excited to get it off the pavement. It’s an absolute beast stock, but I’m planning some high-speed desert runs and a trip to Moab soon, so I want to make sure I’m properly geared up. I’ve been looking into a bed-mounted spare tire carrier and maybe some heavy-duty rock sliders for better underbody protection, but the options out there are a bit overwhelming. I'm mainly focused on utility and trail survival right now. For those of you who actually wheel your TRX, what are the absolute must-have accessories you'd recommend first? Are there any specific winch setups or light bars that integrate well with the factory bumper?

So yeah, seconding what was said earlier! High-speed desert runs rattle EVERYTHING, so securing gear is priority #1. I compared the Mopar TRX Bed-Mounted Tire Carrier vs the Wilco Offroad Hitchgate Solo. The Mopar is a solid budget-friendly factory fit, whereas the Wilco swings out to save bed space. Both are way cheaper than full cages. Honestly, you gotta have a full spare for Moab, right? gl!

yo! in my experience, taking a trx to moab is like... literally the best thing ever. but honestly, coming from someone whos seen some trail carnage, im super cautious about recovery gear. you gotta think about Option A: a hidden winch mount vs Option B: a full replacement bumper. for your winch, i really love the Warn Zeon 12-S Platinum 12000lb Winch with Synthetic Rope. i use it with a Vice Design TRX Hidden Winch Mount. its amazing cuz it stays hidden, but the downside is you cant see the line bunching up which is kinda scary if youre stuck!! idk but if you want more visibility, maybe look at a Fab Fours Matrix Series Front Bumper. its heavier tho. for lighting, the Rigid Industries SR-Series Pro 20-inch Spot/Drive Combo LED Light Bar fits perfectly in the lower bumper gap. for the bed spare, definitely check out the Mopar TRX Bed Mounted Spare Tire Carrier. its a factory fit so you know it wont rattle apart in the desert!! ive seen some cheap ones literally snap on high-speed runs, which is so dangerous. anyway... basically just make sure a pro looks at the winch wiring. safety first!! gl!!

In my experience, taking a TRX out to places like Moab is an absolute dream, but man, you gotta be soooo careful with that underbody. I've been wheeling mine for a while now and I totally get the "overwhelmed" feeling—there's just so much gear out there! Since you're hitting the rocks, I’d prioritize protection first. Honestly, you should just get any heavy-duty rock sliders from a brand like White Knuckle Off Road or SDHQ. They make stuff that actually supports the weight of this beast without folding... literally a lifesaver when you misjudge a ledge. For those high-speed desert runs, a bed-mounted spare carrier is basically mandatory because bouncing around with a stock tire tucked underneath is just asking for trouble. I'd check out what Addictive Desert Designs or even Wilco has to offer. They're super solid and keep things secure. Regarding the winch, stick with Warn. You really can't go wrong with their stuff, but I’d highly suggest a professional consultation for the install since the TRX cooling system is so complex. You dont want to accidentally block airflow to that supercharger! For lighting, just go with Rigid or Baja Designs... they have fantastic kits that fit the factory bumper pockets perfectly and look factory-clean. Seriously, don't skimp on safety gear tho. It’s a heavy truck, so recovery points and high-quality gear are everything. Good luck out there, it’s gonna be amazing!! 👍
