Ive had Rams forever but this REV is a different beast with aero issues. My logic was a hard tonneau for range, but I need a rack for my kayaks. Worried about drag killing my mileage on Florida highways. Got about $2k set aside for the build... what exterior mods are actually EV-friendly without tanking the battery?
Honestly, with an EV truck like the REV, you gotta be super careful about your aerodynamic profile. High highway speeds in Florida are gonna eat that battery if you leave a tall rack up all the time, tbh. Drag is real. Id suggest starting with a hard cover that has integrated T-slots. Ive been running the RealTruck RetraxOne XR Retractable Tonneau Cover Polycarbonate on my setup and it works well because it stays flush with the bed rails. Then, look at the Rhino-Rack Vortex Bar 71 inch Black Crossbars for the kayaks. The key is taking those bars off when you arent actually hauling anything. You might want to consider how much height you really need tho... lower is always better for range. Just make sure to double check the weight limits on those rails before you bolt everything down. If you need help with the mount specs, let me know.
