I'm finally outfitting my 2022 high roof ProMaster for my mobile bike repair biz and I'm totally stuck between the Adrian Steel packages and the Ranger Design stuff. The Ranger setups look way cleaner and lighter but honestly the price is making me sweat a little. I have a hard $2,500 limit for the interior and I need it ready for my first event in Colorado by late July.
I keep looking at those DIY wood builds too but I'm worried about the weight and safety if I ever get in a wreck... which one of these brands actually lasts on bumpy roads?
@Reply #2 - good point! Buying individual units is almost always cheaper than those pre-set kits that include stuff you dont actually need. Quick question tho... are you planning on working inside the van or just using it for storage and doing repairs on a stand outside? If you're inside, your floor space is gonna be a premium. In my experience, mixing brands is the secret to staying under budget. Ive spent years tweaking these setups and found that using Adrian Steel ADseries 44 Inch Adjustable Shelving gives you great flexibility without the high aluminum price tag. Its steel, but the way they lock together is way quieter than old-school shelves.
Ranger Design is absolutely amazing for noise control! If you want to keep it under $2,500, skip the pre-packaged kits and just buy a few Ranger Design 60-X72 Aluminum Shelving units piece-by-piece. It saves a ton of cash.
Honestly, be careful with those full kits because the price creeps up fast once you add mounting hardware. I went with a cheaper steel setup once and regretted it within a week because of the constant noise.
I've been running my ProMaster for years now and honestly, the rattling used to drive me crazy until I switched things up. I ended up installing the Kargo Master 48 Inch Shelving Unit and I have no complaints at all about the durability. It has handled thousands of miles on washboard roads without loosening up... basically its been a tank. To keep things silent, my big tip is to line the shelf lips with adhesive foam before you bolt them together. It stops the metal-on-metal squeaking completely. For your bike tools, I'd suggest looking at the Kargo Master 40010 4-Drawer Cabinet. It fits right into the shelving and stays shut even on steep grades. It kept my setup under budget and the weight is manageable enough that my gas mileage didnt take a massive hit. Just make sure you bolt everything directly to the van frame with a good plusnut tool so it doesnt wiggle over time.
