Honestly fed up with the factory off-road stuff on my TRX. Took it to Moab last weekend and the stock rock rails just buckled the first time I nudged a rock. My logic was that for a 90k truck it would be bulletproof but I guess not. Now I'm stuck needing real replacements and maybe a heavy duty skid plate because the factory one is basically a soda can now. I've got like 2500 bucks for this and need it done before my next trip in three weeks. What accessories are actually worth the money and wont just bend the second they see a trail? I really thought it would be tougher than this...

Just saw this and wanted to chime in before you drop serious cash. Moab is no joke and that truck is basically a heavy tank on stilts. If you are gonna keep doing those technical trails, you might want to consider the CBI Offroad Ram 1500 TRX Full Skid Plate Set. Its 3/16 inch steel and actually covers the transmission and transfer case, which are way too exposed on the stock setup. Make sure to check the clearance tho because adding all that weight can affect your suspension sag a bit. Honestly, be careful with the rear shocks too. Those active Bilsteins are ridiculously expensive if a rock flies up and cracks a housing. I would suggest grabbing some Foutz Motorsports Ram 1500 TRX Rear Shock Guards just for peace of mind. Its a relatively cheap way to save a massive repair bill later. Just stay focused on the belly protection first, then look at bumpers. Just dont go cheap on hardware...

Unfortunately, the factory protection is just not as good as expected for Moab. I had issues with mine too, ngl. Here are two real upgrades:

Regarding what #1 said about "Unfortunately, the factory protection is just not as..." - it is honestly ridiculous how thin that steel is for a truck this heavy. I felt the same way when I saw my skid plate look like a piece of crumpled tinfoil after one light tap on a trail. If youre trying to stay under that 2500 mark but still want stuff that actually takes a hit, you gotta look at Rocky Road Rock Sliders Ram 1500 TRX Super Sliders. They are priced well and way beefier than the Mopar junk. Seen them take some serious abuse without tweaking the frame or anything. For the underside, if you dont want to spend your entire budget on a single plate, check out the Asfir 4x4 Front Skid Plate Ram 1500 TRX 6mm Aluminum. It is thick enough to handle the weight but wont weigh the front end down as much as heavy steel plates. Tbh, you also really need to protect that rear diff if youre doing rocks. The factory one is pretty weak. Grab an ARB Differential Cover Ram 1500 TRX High-Tensile Nodular Iron if you have any cash left over after the sliders. It adds so much peace of mind for like 200 bucks. Its just annoying that we have to spend thousands more just to make a performance truck actually work off-road, but thats the reality I guess... you should be able to get these shipped and bolted on before your trip if you order soon tho.
