Hey everyone! I recently took delivery of a Rivian Commercial Van for my mobile service business, and while I’m absolutely loving the electric range and how it drives, the cargo area feels like a massive, empty cavern right now. Every time I take a corner, I can hear my gear sliding from one side to the other, which is driving me a bit crazy.

I’m really looking to take full advantage of the internal height and the built-in L-track system along the walls, but I’m struggling to find accessories that are a perfect fit. I’ve looked at some generic van shelving, but I’d prefer something more modular that doesn't require drilling a dozen new holes into the floor. Specifically, I’m looking for heavy-duty bins that lock into the tracks and perhaps some collapsible shelving units that can handle about 150 lbs of equipment.

Has anyone found specific brands or custom setups that work well with the RCV’s unique dimensions? I’d love to hear what you’re using for cable management or small parts storage. What are your go-to recommendations for keeping the cargo area organized and professional-looking?

Yo, congrats on the RCV! Ngl, that 'empty cavern' feeling is real until u get those walls dialed in. In my experience, the secret sauce is sticking strictly to L-track native gear so u dont have to drill into that floor. For ur heavy equipment, I would suggest the VanEquipt Modular L-Track Shelving Unit. It’s basically built for these tracks and handles 150lbs easily without shifting an inch. For small parts, honestly, the Milwaukee PACKOUT Compact Wall Plate is a game changer if u use adapters to snap it into the L-track. It keeps everything professional-looking and modular. Also, make sure to use US Cargo Control L-Track Double Stud Fittings for any heavy bins; the single studs can rattle too much. Just be careful with weight distribution on the vertical tracks... basically, spread the load out. gl! 👍

sooo had a moment to think about this more and ngl, I'd actually suggest a different approach before you spend a fortune. Respectfully, those custom van setups are awesome, but they’re highkey expensive. Since I'm also kinda new to this, I’m always worried about safety and overspending, you know? Basically, L-track is a standard rail system, so you don't necessarily need 'official' furniture to keep things secure. You can save hundreds by using heavy-duty bins and generic fittings: * SmartStraps L-Track Single Stud Fitting 4-Pack — usually around $15.
* HDX 27 Gallon Tough Tote with Lid — these are like $12 and super rugged.
* Erickson 59136 L-Track Tie Down Ring — great for securing cables with cheap bungees. I mean, it might not look as 'pro' as a $2,000 shelf, but it works and keeps gear from sliding. Just gotta be careful with the weight limits... anyway, gl!

Just saw this thread and honestly, the struggle is real when you're trying to not turn the back of your van into a giant maraca. When I was setting up my current rig, I went through a whole phase of comparing the big-name modular brands against the stuff you find at local industrial supply shops.

  • The premium brands look slick but cost a fortune for what is basically aluminum and plastic.
  • Industrial-grade fittings are way more affordable, but sometimes the tolerances are a bit loose so they rattle more.
  • Mixing and matching saved me a ton of money but took way more planning. Definitely look into some of those overlanding or expedition forums... those guys have been using L-track in rigs for a long time and have some great DIY hacks for mounting heavy bins. I found a few threads there that helped me figure out how to stop the rattling without buying the most expensive gear out there. My setup is kind of a mix now but it works well enough for my daily runs... good luck with the build!
