Hey everyone! I just officially joined the Solterra club and brought home a 2024 Limited trim yesterday. I’m absolutely loving the drive so far, but I’m quickly realizing that the interior could use some functional upgrades, and I’m a bit overwhelmed by the charging options available.
Since this is my first EV, I'm currently stuck using the included Level 1 cable, but it’s just too slow for my daily 40-mile commute. I’m looking for recommendations on a reliable Level 2 home charging station—has anyone found a specific brand that plays nice with the Solterra’s onboard charging software? Also, with more Tesla destination chargers around, is there a specific NACS to J1772 adapter you’d trust for road trips?
For the interior, I’m already paranoid about scratching that glossy piano black trim on the center console. Does anyone have a lead on a good matte wrap or a protective cover that looks factory-made? I’m also hunting for some heavy-duty all-weather floor liners that provide better coverage than the OEM ones, especially for the rear footwell. My total budget is around $1,000 for these initial upgrades.
What are the absolute 'must-have' accessories you've bought to make your Solterra more practical for daily use?
1. For home charging, I’d suggest the Wallbox Pulsar Plus 40 Amp Level 2 EV Charger. Just make sure ur home wiring is actually up to code first!
2. Grab the A2Z Stellar Tesla to J1772 Adapter for road trips—it’s super solid.
3. TuxMat Floor Mats for Subaru Solterra provide wayyy better coverage than OEM.
4. For that trim, Xpel Center Console Paint Protection Film is a lifesaver. Honestly, prioritize the charger safety first. peace 👍
yo, congrats on the new Solterra! honestly, i feel u on the piano black... i scratched mine within the first week and it was so depressing lol. for home charging, i suggest the ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 WiFi Enabled EV Charger. it's pricey but worth it cuz it plays nice with the car's software, whereas some cheap ones i tried gave me errors. for road trips, the Lectron Tesla to J1772 Charging Adapter 48A 250V is basically the gold standard tbh.
here's what i recommend for the rest:
* TuxMat Custom Mat Floor Liners for Subaru Solterra 2023-2024 — way better coverage than OEM, especially for the rear footwell.
* AOSK Center Console Cover for Subaru Solterra Matte Black — i had issues with vinyl wraps bubbling, so this hard cover is way better imo.
it's kinda annoying that we gotta spend extra for basic protection, but these upgrades really fix the main gripes... peace!
Exactly what I was thinking
Curious about one thing: what’s the amperage of the circuit you’re planning to run for your Level 2 setup? Since the Solterra’s onboard charger is capped at 6.6kW, you dont really need anything overkill. Basically:
* Go with any charger from Grizzl-E
* Grab an adapter from TeslaTap
* Get some liners from WeatherTech Lmk about your wiring and I can give more technical specs! 👍
