I just traded in my older Crosstrek for a new Forester Wilderness and I’m beyond excited to finally test it out on some moderate trails! While the factory upgrades are a great start, I’m worried about pushing it too far without the right gear. I’m currently looking into beefier skid plates for the transmission and rear diff, as the stock ones feel a bit thin for rocky terrain. I’m also debating between a set of recovery boards or a dedicated tire repair kit first. For those of you who actually wheel your Wilderness, what are the absolute 'must-have' accessories you’d recommend for a beginner on a $1,200 budget?
Curious about one thing: what's your terrain like? Basically, if its rocky, I'm SO happy with Primitive Racing Triple Armor. TL;DR: Terrain dictates whether you should prioritize armor or recovery gear.

Honestly, i spent a ton on armor for my current setup but rarely actually hit anything. The biggest technical win for me was a solid air compressor. Airing down to 20 psi basically gives you way more grip and protects your tires better than a plate would. i think air management is way more essential for a beginner than armor!! it's worked great for me. gl!
