I just picked up a 2023 BRZ and while the stock look is clean, I want to give it a more aggressive stance. I’m specifically looking for advice on ducktail spoilers versus wings, and which front lips handle daily driving best. I want to keep it tasteful without looking too over-the-top. What exterior mods did you guys go with first?

Quick question - before I give advice on the technical side, are you planning to lower the car on HKS Hipermax S Coilovers or maybe some lowering springs? Basically, the ride height highkey changes which front lip is gonna survive your daily commute lol. I totally LOVE the ducktail look btw!! It’s such a fantastic vibe for the Gen 2 body style without being way too aggressive.

Not to disagree, but I've actually had a different experience when it comes to the front end. While poly is great, the Aeroflow Dynamics V1 Front Lip is literally the best value for a daily driver because it's cheap to replace if you scrape. I've tried many over the years and honestly, spend your money where it counts!

Instead of jumping straight into a ducktail, I'd actually consider another option for the rear. Everyone does ducktails now... they're kinda everywhere?

* **The Rear Stance:** Check out the Subaru OEM Trunk Spoiler. It's super lowkey but the fitment is 100% perfect since it's factory. Plus, you don't have to worry about the paint matching being slightly off like with some aftermarket Noble kits.
* **The Practical Lip:** Go with the Bayson R Motorsports ST-Style Front Lip. It's like $150. If you crack it on a driveway? Who cares! It's way more cost-effective than the carbon stuff.
* **Lighting:** Before wings, grab the Noble JDM Style Rear Fourth Brake Light. It's a quick $100 mod that makes the back look way more aggressive at night.

I totally get the urge to lower it, and while those HKS Hipermax S Coilovers mentioned earlier are basically the industry standard, you can save a ton of cash by just doing the Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs. It gives you that 1-inch drop for like $300 instead of $1,500. Just my two cents if you wanna keep the budget tight but the look clean haha. gl with the build!! 👍

Congrats on the new ZD8! tbh the market for these cars is blowing up right now so you have tons of options. If you want that "OEM+" look without looking like every other BRZ at the meet, I'd suggest looking at the JDM vs aftermarket replica route. Here is what I've seen work best from a market research perspective: * STI Performance Under Spoiler - It’s definitely pricier than the reps, but the fitment is basically perfect and the plastic quality is way more durable for dailying than the cheap stuff. * Rexpeed V2 Duckbill - If you find the Noble one too small, this has a more aggressive "kick" while still being way more tasteful than a full GT wing.
* Driven Media Clear Side Markers - Honestly, swapping out those orange bricks is the single best low-cost mod. It makes the front end look way more premium and clean. Most people sleep on the authentic JDM stuff because of the shipping times, but the resale value and fitment are realy worth it if you plan on keeping the car for a while. Adding some STI Side Skirts also helps tie the whole aggressive stance together so the car doesn't look "front heavy" with just a lip. Welcome to the money pit lol!

Regarding what #4 said about the market blowing up for the ZD8, its totally true but you gotta be careful because some brands have really wonky fitment. I am with you on keeping it tasteful... here are a few things I would suggest checking out that are a bit different from the usual stuff:

  • Verus Engineering Street Front Splitter
  • Instead of just poly plastic, this is a durable composite. It handles scrapes way better and wont just snap if you hit a steep driveway weird. Definitely a safer bet for a daily.
  • Rexpeed V3 Carbon Fiber Duckbill
  • This one has a slightly more aggressive kick than the Noble ones but still flows with the body lines. Just make sure to use plenty of adhesive promoter during the install.
  • Olm V1 Roof Spoiler
  • If you go with a ducktail, adding one of these really balances out the side profile of the car without looking like a track-only build. Just a heads up, if you go with carbon, maybe consider getting it clear coated or at least use a high quality ceramic spray. Some of these aftermarket pieces tend to yellow after a year in the sun if you dont baby them. Honestly the STI stuff mentioned earlier is the safest bet for fitment, but these alternatives give it that extra edge i think you are looking for... just be careful with the 3M tape prep!

Bump - same question here

In my experience, here is what I recommend:

- Go with Bayson R for the front lip. Unfortunately, I had issues with more expensive carbon brands cracking LITERALLY the first week, so poly is better for dailying.
- For the rear, grab a ducktail from Noble. It looks way more integrated than a wing.
- Just get any spacers from Perrin to fix the fitment... basically makes it look 10x better tbh. gl!

Man I wish I found this thread sooner. Would have saved me so much hassle.
