I’m finally taking my Cybertruck out on some more technical trails next month, but I’m a bit worried about the underbody and those stainless steel panels getting beat up. Since the truck is so heavy, I want to make sure I’ve got the right protection to enhance its durability before I hit the rocks. I’ve been looking into heavy-duty skid plates and maybe some high-clearance rock sliders to prevent side impact damage. I’m also curious if anyone has found mud flaps that actually stay on during deep ruts. I want to build something rugged without compromising the range too much. What are the must-have off-road accessories you’ve installed to keep your truck from getting trashed on the trail?
Just sharing my experience: I went through this last year when I bottomed out on a jagged rock. Honestly, it was pretty scary because the truck is so heavy, and the standard protection just didn't feel solid enough for safety. I actually ended up installing the Talons Garage Tesla Cybertruck Skid Plate because it felt like a tank, plus I added some Goat Truck Armor Magnetic Panels to keep the finish from getting scratched by branches. Seriously, focus on the underbody first for peace of mind!
TL;DR from this thread: So basically the consensus is you either go for the heavy-duty protection like the T Sportline Cybertruck Rock Sliders or try to keep it light to save your range. Ngl, as a total beginner, I've been researching costs cuz I'm on a budget!
* **Option A:** Goat Truck Armor Magnetic Panels are WAY cheaper than wraps for side protection and literally just pop on and off.
* **Option B:** WeatherTech Mud Flaps for Tesla Cybertruck seem more affordable than custom off-road ones, tho idk if they'll survive deep ruts??
I mean, I LOVE the idea of the heavy plates, but maybe start with the magnetic armor first to see if you even like the technical trails? It saved me SO much money on my first run haha! gl! 👍
sooo i've been thinking about your setup for a few hours now and i'd actually suggest a different approach - ngl the heavy steel stuff is great but it adds SO much weight to an already heavy truck. i mean, i've had a different experience where keeping it light actually saved my suspension on the techy parts...
* Go with Mountain Pass Performance: i'd recommend their stuff cuz they focus on aluminum which is way lighter than steel.
* Generic Mud Flaps: honestly, just get any flexible rubber ones from a brand like WeatherTech or similar. the stiff ones will literally just rip your fender flares off in deep ruts (ask me how i know lol).
* Protection Wraps: maybe look into those magnetic armor kits or a thick stealth wrap instead of just hard parts for the panels.
i'm super happy with my current setup and it works well without killing the range. basically, i think you'll be satisfied if you don't overbuild it... anyway, just my two cents! peace
Basically, i suggest these:
- Unplugged Performance Underbody Armor Skid Plate
- T Sportline Cybertruck Rock Sliders
Seriously, they're amazing and honestly essential for technical trails to avoid expensive damage!!
