so my trusty 2014 f150 finally kicked the bucket yesterday morning right in the middle of a job site and i am officially scrambling. i run a local landscaping business here in the austin area and i am dying to switch to electric because the gas bills are literally killing my margins lately. ive been scouring the marketplace and found two potential cybertrucks but i cant decide which way to go.
option one is a foundation series awd with about 3,000 miles on it for 105k which is right at the top of my budget but doable. then theres this cyberbeast i found in round rock for 128k with 8k miles and honestly i dont know if the extra power is even worth the extra 20k for pulling a trailer full of sod and equipment all day. plus that 128k price is really pushing it and id have to finance way more than i want to.
i need to have a truck in my driveway by monday morning or i start losing clients left and right so the clock is ticking. do you think the basic awd is plenty for heavy hauling or is the beast actually better for long term durability when youre constantly towing? also if anyone knows of any other used ones sitting on a lot near austin or san antonio that arent listed on the main sites let me know asap...
honestly you should just go with the Tesla Cybertruck Foundation Series All-Wheel Drive and call it a day. the dual motor setup puts out about 600 horsepower and massive torque which is way more than your old f150 ever had. for hauling landscaping gear around austin you wont even notice a difference between that and the beast except for the extra 20k staying in your pocket. ive been really satisfied with how the awd handles heavy trailers and the efficiency is slightly better too which helps the margins. i heard there was a used one sitting at a boutique dealer near san marcos lately but 105k for 3k miles is a solid deal for a foundation series right now. definitely get a Tesla Wall Connector 48A EV Charger installed at your shop so youre always ready to go by 7am. the awd is a beast in its own right and works well for daily work stuff... no need to overspend.
Make sure to analyze the payload specs carefully.
