I finally got my delivery date for my Cyberbeast next Thursday and honestly im kinda freaking out because I booked a trip to Moab for the following weekend. I live in Phoenix so I'm used to the heat but the terrain out there is totally different and I dont want to be that guy who gets stuck or ruins his truck on day one. I've been looking at the official Tesla shop and that light bar looks cool but its expensive as hell and people say the installation is a nightmare. I also saw the Unplugged Performance stuff online but it seems like overkill for a first-timer or maybe I'm wrong? I'm mostly worried about the essentials like recovery gear and what kind of air compressor people are using since the built-in one is okay but maybe not fast enough for airing back up 35s in the sun. I have about 3 grand left in my budget for this month to gear up.

  • recovery boards (Maxtrax or knockoffs?)
  • better jack for the weight
  • maybe a roof rack but will it kill my range?

I've seen so many conflicting videos on YouTube about what actually fits and what is just clout chasing. Since this thing is so heavy I'm paranoid about the standard gear not holding up. What are the absolute must-haves I need to order today so they get here before my trip? Like what is the stuff you actually use every time you go out?

@Reply #1 - good point! Honestly, the weight is the biggest killer. I spent way too much on some of the official stuff early on and was kinda let down. For Moab, you really need a dedicated compressor. That built-in one is honestly a joke for 35s in the heat. It gets so hot it almost shuts down. I picked up the ARB Twin Air Compressor 12V High Performance Portable and it saves so much time compared to waiting for the truck to do its thing. Regarding the jack, those cheap scissor jacks are a disaster waiting to happen with a Beast. I tried a standard floor jack and it just struggled. Better to grab a Powerbuilt 3 Ton All-in-One Jack Jackstand because it combines the lift and the stand, which is way safer on uneven sand or rock. Unfortunately, standard gear just doesnt cut it for a 7,000lb truck. Dont waste your money on a roof rack yet. I tried one and my Wh/mi went through the roof, literally. Its a total range killer and honestly not worth the drag if you're hitting the highway from Phoenix. If you want to save that 3k, skip the flashy light bars and focus on a solid tire repair kit like the ARB 10000011 Tire Repair Kit Professional because a puncture in Moab is way more likely than needing a light bar at noon. TL;DR: Skip the rack and light bar for now. Get a heavy-duty portable compressor, a combined jack/stand, and a real plug kit. Youll save 2 grand and actually be prepared for the desert.

@Reply #3 - good point! Tbh most of the branded stuff is just markup for the aesthetic. Since the Cyberbeast is pushing 7,000 lbs, you gotta be really careful with load ratings. Standard 7/8 inch ropes are way too risky for a vehicle this heavy. I would suggest focusing on your safety margins before buying a light bar.

> I have about 3 grand left in my budget for this month to gear up. Congrats on the delivery! I was super worried about the weight too. I bought Maxtrax MKII Recovery Boards Signature Orange and honestly im very satisfied. My buddy used cheap knockoffs and they basically snapped under his truck. I also looked at ARB TRED Pro Recovery Boards Granite/Grey which have better grip, but the Maxtrax feel safer for a beginner like me. Works well and no complaints.

Re: "@Reply #1 - good point! Honestly, the weight..." - man, the pricing for these accessories is honestly such a scam. it drives me crazy how brands just slap a cyber label on gear and suddenly it costs triple. i was looking at basic stuff last night and honestly felt like i was getting robbed... it makes me so paranoid to buy anything when half of it is just overpriced junk. its ridiculous.
