Got my Highland pickup scheduled for next Tuesday and I'm honestly so hyped but also kinda stressing because I'm driving from LA to Phoenix like three days later. It's my first EV so I've been doomscrolling forums for lists of stuff to buy.
I saw people swearing by those matte screen protectors to stop glare but then some other guy said the Highland screen is different and it ruins the quality? Also keep seeing those jack pucks... do people actually carry those around or is that just for people who do their own work? I've only got about 200 bucks left in my car fund for now so I dont want to buy junk I wont use. What are the actual must-haves for a long desert drive?

Congrats on the Highland! I've been super satisfied with just a few basics for my desert runs. Skip the matte protector, honestly it kills the display's crispness. Grab these instead:
- Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Model 3 Highland GLAS.tR Slim
- Tesmanian Tesla Model 3 Highland Lifting Jack Pad Puck The pucks are essential because random tire shops wont have them if you get a flat. Youll love the drive!

Been thinking about this one. I agree with the sunshade recommendation. Make sure to consider:
- Slime 50122 12V Portable Flat Tire Repair Kit Be careful, desert flats happen. It's a budget-savvy way to avoid towing.

Ngl that drive through the desert is a total battery killer if the AC is fighting 110 degree sun hitting the roof glass. Heat soak is a real issue with these cars during long highway stretches. Experience taught me the hard way that the glass roof radiates a ton of heat directly onto your head... it gets pretty uncomfortable even with the air on full blast. Since you've only got 200 bucks left, I would suggest getting some solid shades. Personally, I use the Basenor Tesla Model 3 Highland Roof Sunshade UV Protection because it fits the new interior dimensions perfectly and doesnt sag. Just be careful with the ultra cheap ones tho, if the clips are flimsy theyll just pop off on every bump. Another thing to consider is the Spigen Center Console Organizer Tray for Model 3 Highland to keep your snacks and gear from rattling around in those deep empty bins while you're cruising.
