So I finally got the Plaid out to Buttonwillow last weekend and man the speed is insane but the brake fade is real... Ive been tracking M3s for years but this weight is just a different animal. I need to prep for a track day next month and need to know what the must-haves are.
Should I just stick with better pads and fluid or are the sway bars worth the hassle on these? What are you guys running to keep the heat down without dropping 20k on a full carbon kit?
> What are you guys running to keep the heat down? Honestly, the stock setup is kinda scary at speed. I tried just doing pads at Willow Springs but unfortunately, they werent as good as expected and I still had major fade issues. You really need Castrol SRF React Racing Brake Fluid and Unplugged Performance Street & Track Brake Pads to feel safe. For the roll, skip the cheap stuff. Generic bars gave me issues before. Get the Mountain Pass Performance Solid Adjustable Rear Sway Bar instead.
> better pedal feel and less roll in the corners ^ This. Also, dont ignore the suspension bushings. The factory rubber deflects way too much under heavy load. Im really happy with the Mountain Pass Performance Front Front Lower Control Arm Bearings on my Plaid. They stop that scary wandering feeling during high-speed braking. It makes the steering way more precise and keeps your alignment solid when youre diving into a turn.
Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.
> Should I just stick with better pads and fluid or are the sway bars worth the hassle on these? Unfortunately, I had issues with just changing the fluid. The pedal feel was not as good as expected after three laps... To fix this methodically, you really need Goodridge Stainless Steel Brake Lines Tesla Model S Plaid and the Mountain Pass Performance Brake Master Cylinder Brace. For handling, adding the Unplugged Performance Front Sway Bar is mandatory to stop the roll. It's much better.
