So I finally pulled the trigger on a 2024 XC60 Recharge and honestly the car is great but I am so overwhelmed with the accessory catalog its actually making me crazy. My dealership in Seattle keeps pushing these protection packages that cost like two grand but I feel like half that stuff is just fluff I dont need. I have two golden retrievers and a toddler so the interior is basically a ticking time bomb and I need to figure out what is actually worth the money before the first mud season hits.
I spent like three hours on the Volvo forums last night looking at cargo liners and it just made things worse. Some people swear by the official plastic ones because they fit perfectly but then other people are saying they are way too thin and everything slides around in the back like crazy when you turn a corner. Then I looked at the rubber mats for the front and everyone says the OEM ones look the best but they dont cover the dead pedal area so my carpet is gonna get trashed anyway? It feels like for a car this expensive the accessories should just... work.
I have about 1500 bucks left in my car fund for this month and I really want to get it right the first time. I also saw those roof bars - load carriers I think they call them - and they look cool but are they super noisy? I do a lot of highway driving to the mountains and if they whistle the whole time my wife is gonna kill me. I just dont want to waste money on stuff that looks good in a catalog but fails in real life.
What are the actual essential accessories you guys use every day for an XC60? Specifically:
I just want to get this sorted before I regret not protecting the leather or something...
How heavy are the dogs? Need to check load-bearing specs. Compare these:
Congrats on the new Recharge! Honestly, skip those dealer protection packs because they're usually just a massive markup. Since you're in Seattle and have Goldens, you gotta be careful about the mud before it ruins that interior.
Did this last week, worked perfectly
I've been driving Volvos since the early 2000s and honestly the accessory game has changed a lot. I remember my first XC60 back in 2015... I spent a fortune on the official Volvo rubber mats only to realize they leave half the carpet exposed where your left foot sits. After a wet winter, my floor was a salt-stained mess. tbh if you want actual protection for that toddler and the dogs, look at these instead:
