I’ve been doing some research on where to start, and the options are honestly a bit overwhelming. I’m primarily focused on 'function over form'—I’m not really interested in purely aesthetic mods like carbon fiber mirrors unless they actually serve a purpose. My main goals are to improve throttle response, get a bit more feedback through the steering, and maybe shave a few pounds off the curb weight.
I’ve already looked into getting some higher-performance brake pads and maybe some stainless steel lines because I noticed a bit of fade toward the end of my last spirited session. I went through this last year with my G87 and honestly, I was kinda disappointed with some of the mods I tried first. I spent way too much on an intake that did literally nothing for power, just more swoosh sounds lol.
What actually changed the car for me was focusing on the unsprung weight. Switching to Apex VS-5RS Forged Wheels 19x10 / 20x11 made the steering feel so much more alive... like, the feedback actually exists now! Also, I had issues with the stock brakes too, so I swapped to EBC RP-1 Racing Brake Pads and Goodridge Stainless Steel Brake Lines. The pedal feel is rock solid now even after a 20-min session. Tbh it's way more satisfying than just chasing horsepower numbers right away!!
For your situation, I'd honestly focus on the S58's power delivery and the chassis feel rather than just chasing peak HP numbers. I've been tracking BMWs for over a decade and the G87 is a beast, but it's definitely heavy and feels a bit 'filtered' from the factory. I would suggest starting with a Dinan Monoball Tension Strut Ball Joint Kit. This is probably the best 'bang for buck' mod for steering feel—it replaces the rubber bushings with sealed bearings, which gets rid of that vague deflection during hard braking and cornering. It makes the front end feel way more 'pointy' without making the ride harsh.
As for the S58, the stock intake is actually decent, but if you want better throttle response and a bit more punch, look at a Dahler Anti-Buffeting Wind Deflectors for the windows (trust me, track days with windows down are loud) and then grab a MHD Super License for G-Series S58. A simple Stage 1 flash wakes the car up significantly without needing hardware changes.
To help with the weight and agility, skip the carbon bits and look at a Milltek Sport G87 M2 Mid-Pipe. It actually sheds a few pounds and helps the turbos breathe, which definitely helps with heat soak during sessions. Pair that with some Castrol React SRF Racing Brake Fluid—seriously, dont skip the fluid if you're doing stainless lines, it makes a massive difference in pedal consistency.

sooo i totally get where youre coming from!! i literally just started messing with my own G87 and honestly, its a beast. for under $4k, i would highkey focus on suspension vs power. like, a good set of lowering springs from MSS or H&R basically transforms the stance and handling without killing the ride. i mean, you could go with a mid-pipe from Active Autowerke for sound, but for pure agility? just get any decent HAS kit from BMW or similar brands and youll be stoked with how much flatter it corners lol. gl!!
