What are the actual must-have performance accessories or parts for a BMW M3 if I want to make it faster or handle better? Sorry if this is a super basic question but I just picked up a 2022 M3 and I honestly have no idea what I'm doing yet. It's my first time owning anything this powerful and I feel a bit out of my league looking at all these forums.
I keep seeing everyone talk about stage 1 or stage 2 and intake systems or exhaust setups but it all sounds like a different language to me. Like do I need a new exhaust to actually see a difference or is that just for the sound? I'm based in SoCal so I don't want anything that's gonna get me in trouble with smog or the cops but I have about $5,000 saved up to spend on some upgrades over the next few months.
I mostly just drive it to work and back right now but I really want to try taking it to a track day at Willow Springs later this year so I want it to be ready for that. Should I be looking at tires first or like a computer chip thing? Or maybe those carbon fiber bits? I dont want to waste money on stuff that doesnt actually do anything for how the car actually drives. Is there like a standard list of stuff most people do first or should I just leave it stock for now?
Honestly, dont waste that 5k on carbon fiber bits or loud exhausts yet. Since you're planning to hit Willow Springs, you really should focus on heat management and mechanical grip first. The G80 is a heavy car, so your brakes are gonna take a massive beating on track.
