Hey everyone! I finally picked up a G80 M3 a few months ago, and while it’s incredible stock, I’m ready to start tweaking a few things. I’m looking for the best 'bang for your buck' performance mods that won’t totally ruin the daily drivability. I’ve been looking into a Stage 1 tune and maybe some high-flow downpipes for a better exhaust note, but I’m also wondering if I should prioritize suspension first, like a set of KW HAS springs to sharpen the handling. My goal is a mix of street fun and the occasional track day. For those who have modified theirs, which performance upgrades would you recommend starting with to really wake the car up?

In my experience, if you're looking for the best bang for your buck on the G80, you honestly gotta be careful about jumping straight into a tune. I've had some issues with warranty claims in the past, and it's a total headache, so I'd suggest starting with some high-quality intake mods first to get that turbo spool sound without the risk of bricking your ECU.

I mean, if you really want that extra punch for street and track, I'd skip the expensive downpipes for now and grab the MST Performance BMW G80 M3 G82 M4 Cold Air Intake System. It literally wakes up the car's personality and sounds incredible. Another solid budget move is getting a good set of spacers to flush out the fitment while you save for the HAS kit mentioned earlier. I'd go with the Burger Motorsports BMW G80 M3 Wheel Spacer Kit—12mm or 15mm usually does the trick perfectly.

Actually, one thing people forget is how much heat these cars generate on track. If you're gonna push it, maybe look into the CSF High-Performance Front Mount Transmission Oil Cooler just to stay on the safe side, right? It's not a 'flashy' mod, but it's way cheaper than a toasted transmission. Anyway, just my two cents... have fun with the build! 👍

Seconding the recommendation above regarding the HAS kit! Honestly, lowering the G80 makes such a huge difference in how it looks and feels. But since you're looking for the best bang for your buck to actually wake the engine up, I've gotta suggest looking into a midpipe instead of full downpipes first.

I went the high-flow downpipe route initially and, unfortunately, it was way too raspy for my daily drive and I kept getting CEL codes. Not as good as expected for the price tbh. If I were you, I'd grab the Active Autowerke G80 M3 Single Midpipe for around $1,300. It gives you that deep BMW growl without the drone or emissions headaches.

Also, if you're doing track days, skip the fancy carbon bits for now and get some EBC Brakes Racing RP-1 Track Front Brake Pads. They're like $350 and will save your rotors from melting when you're pushing it. Seriously, the stock pads fade sooo fast once they get hot. gl with the build!

Ok so, I've had my G80 for a year and honestly, if you wanna wake it up without breaking the bank, start with the Dahler Anti-Buffeting Wind Deflectors and a good valve controller. But for real performance, I would suggest the KW Suspension HAS Height Adjustable Spring Kit for BMW M3 G80 first. It literally fixes the wheel gap and makes the turn-in feel sooo much sharper on track days. Be careful with the tune tho, cuz it might mess with ur warranty... but a Stage 1 really makes it a beast!! gl with the build!

Before dropping cash, what’s your production date and is it xDrive or RWD? The Bosch ECU lockout on post-June 2020 builds really changes the market math for tuning. If you’re locked, you’re looking at a Femto unlock in Finland, which adds significant cost and downtime. From a market analysis perspective, here is where the smart money is going for a street/track hybrid: * **Tuning:** If you’re locked and want to avoid the Femto hassle, the Burger Motorsports JB4 Tuner is basically the industry standard. Unlike cheaper piggybacks, it maps via CANbus and holds its resale value incredibly well on the forums.
* **Tires:** People always overlook the rubber. Swapping to Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires is technically the biggest 'bang' for track delta. The G80 is heavy, and the stock star-spec PS4S gets greasy after three hot laps.
* **Braking:** Since you mentioned track days, grab a Goodridge Stainless Steel Brake Line Kit. It’s a cheap mod that eliminates the expansion you get with rubber lines under high temp. Honestly, if you have a locked ECU, prioritize the tires and lines first. Power is useless if the car is heat-soaking or the pedal goes soft. Basically, sort the chassis before chasing dyno numbers.

Omg I have the exact same problem with my G80! I have been dealing with this for like three months now and I am still totally paralyzed because I havent been able to finalize a methodical comparison between the Ohlins Road and Track Coilovers and the MCS 2-Way Non-Remote Dampers to evaluate the damping curves for a street and track mix. It is so frustrating because I really want to wake the car up but I just cant find a clear answer!
