Essential performance parts for a new Corvette Z06?

I just took delivery of my C8 Z06 and I’m absolutely blown away by the LT6, but I’m already looking to sharpen it up for some occasional track days and spirited weekend drives. I want to keep it somewhat reliable for the street, so I’m looking for the 'must-have' mods that actually make a difference. I'm considering upgraded brake pads for better heat management and maybe some high-flow air filters or an exhaust setup to really let that flat-plane crank sing. Does anyone have experience with specific aero kits or cooling upgrades that are worth the investment early on? What are the first three performance parts you’d recommend to really optimize the Z06 platform?

Before I give advice, are you planning on running the Z07 aero package or are you sticking with the standard setup? It makes a huge difference in how much cooling you'll actually need.

I've gotta be honest, as an owner, you gotta be careful with that LT6. It's a masterpiece but it runs HOT. Since you're looking for budget-friendly stuff, definitely grab some Paragon Performance C8 Z06 Brake Cooling Duct Extensions for like $100. They're a total steal compared to full kits and really help the rotors breathe. Also, skip the expensive exhausts for now and just get the Attack Blue High Flow Dry Nano Fiber Air Filter. It's about $140 and actually lets you hear that flat-plane crank induction noise way better without voiding anything. I mean, I'm pretty conservative with mods cuz I don't wanna mess with the warranty, so keep it simple first. Just make sure to check your alignment before the track too!! gl

1. Z06 Jacking Pucks by Reverse Logic - Seriously, you need these. They're like $60 and save your side skirts from getting crushed by shops or when you're swapping wheels.
2. Soler Performance Throttle Controller - It's around $175. It doesn't add HP, but it makes the LT6 feel way more snappy on those weekend drives.
3. Carbotech XP10 Brake Pads - If you want a cheaper alternative to Ferodos, these are great. Probably about $400 for a set and they handle heat like a champ.

In my experience, you dont need to drop big bucks early on. For your situation, I suggest starting with Castrol SRF Racing Brake Fluid 1 liter for like $60—basically a must-have for heat. Then, grab some Ferodo DS2500 Brake Pads for around $500; they're pretty great for hybrid street/track use without being too noisy. Honestly, skip the expensive aero for now and just get a good alignment. It's the most cost-effective way to sharpen it up!! gl

Just sharing my experience: I went through this exact same process last year when I started tracking my Z. I was super paranoid about safety and keeping the engine healthy since the LT6 is such a unique beast. Even though the previous guys mentioned pads and fluid, I focused hard on protection first because those track pebbles are NO joke at high speeds. I'm honestly still pretty new to the LT6 world myself but I've been trying to do as much as I can in my own garage to save some money for actual track days. It's so much cheaper if you can do the labor yourself and actually learn how the car works. Plus you dont have to worry about a shop scratching your rims or anything. Here are the first three things I'd look at for a budget DIY setup:

  • Paragon Performance C8 Corvette Lowering Front Lift Collars
  • If you have the front lift system, these are great for lowering the car just a bit to help with the center of gravity. It's way more affordable than a full suspension swap and you can definitely tackle it over a weekend in your driveway.
  • LGMotorsports C8 Corvette Tow Hook
  • Most tracks basically require these and they're super cheap. You can just screw them in yourself in like two minutes. It's a huge peace of mind for very little money if you ever get stuck in the sand.
  • OBDLink MX+ Bluetooth OBD2 Adaptive Scanner
  • I use this with some free apps on my phone to track my lap times and check engine health while I'm out there. It's not as fancy as the pro data loggers but it's a total bargain for a beginner like me. Anyway just my two cents!!! Are you planning on doing the installs yourself or taking it to a shop???
