im honestly so fed up with my Z06 brakes fading after two laps at VIR and my track day is literally next Saturday. I need help fast.

  • $2k budget
  • need it by Thursday in Virginia
  • strictly for heavy track use

what cooling kits or pads actually work or should I just give up?

Regarding what #3 said about "This thread is gold. Bookmarking for future reference...", i actually disagree with focusing solely on pads for heavy VIR use. In my experience, the factory caliper bolts are a major safety liability. Dont overlook hardware.

Caught this thread a bit late but had to chime in. VIR is absolute murder on C7 Z06 rotors if you dont have the airflow sorted. I remember running data logs during a 90-degree July session and seeing temps spike way past the operating window. Regarding what #1 said about "Ferodo DS1.11 Front Brake Pads Castrol SRF React..." - those are solid, but honestly, adding mechanical cooling makes a massive delta in consistency. Heres what I recommend for heavy track use:

^ This. Also, I've been hitting VIR for about a decade now, and while those Ferodos are decent, I’ve found a different setup that really hits the sweet spot for the C7 Z06's weight. I used to run the standard stuff everyone suggests, but after a hairy moment coming into Turn 1 a few years back, I switched to Pagid RST 3 Brake Pads. Honestly, the modulation is night and day compared to the 1.11s. They dont just stop the car, they give you that confidence to dive deeper into the braking zones without feeling like the pedal is gonna go mushy on you. For fluid, I actually prefer Motul RBF 660 Factory Line Brake Fluid over the Castrol SRF. It's way easier on the wallet and I havent noticed any performance drop-off during 20-minute sessions even in that gross Virginia humidity. If you're looking for rotors that can actually handle the heat without breaking the bank before Saturday, check out DBA 5000 Series T3 Slotted Rotors. I've had zero issues with cracking or fading after multiple hard weekends, and they usually ship out pretty fast. Just my experience, but its worked wonders for me... definitely worth a look if you want to stay under that $2k limit.
