I finally took my C7 Z06 out to Willow Springs last weekend and honestly it was a total disaster. I thought these things were built for the track but I was hitting limp mode after like four laps because of the heat soak... it is so frustrating because I spent good money on this car and expected way more. I already did the fluids and upgraded the pads but it just wasnt enough to keep up.
I have about 5k set aside and need to fix this before my next event in two weeks. Im looking at cooling mods or maybe some better aero kits but I dont want to waste money on stuff that doesnt work. Which performance upgrades or accessories are actually best for the Z06?
> Im looking at cooling mods... dont want to waste money Coming back to this... honestly just grab the DeWitts C7 Corvette High Capacity Expansion Tank. It helps bleed air pockets and wont break the bank compared to radiators.
Unfortunately, the stock cooling is just not as good as expected. I had issues until I installed the LG Motorsports Super Cool Radiator and the Gspeed C7 Z06 Secondary Radiator kit.
> I was hitting limp mode after like four laps because of the heat soak Saw this earlier but just getting to it now. Honestly, its embarrassing that GM let these out of the factory with such bad cooling. I had the exact same experience at Laguna Seca, car just gave up after 10 minutes. Its super disappointing for a Z06... honestly felt like I wasted my money at first. I tried a few things and found that airflow and volume are the main bottlenecks. I swapped in a DeWitts C7 Corvette Z06 High-Performance 70mm Radiator and it definitely helped things stay more stable. You should also look at the Katech C7 Corvette High Flow Water Pump to keep that coolant moving faster. If you're running the automatic, the CSF C7 Corvette High Performance Auxiliary Radiator is another solid piece that fits the budget. These mods wont fix everything but they get you way closer to a full session without the car throwing a tantrum.
