Ive been tracking my Z06 for years but my front end felt super light today at turn 17 and its sketching me out. I have about 3k to spend before my Sebring event next weekend and need to fix this lift issue. What exterior mods are actually functional for aero and cooling instead of just being showy?
Just saw this thread. I had that same lift issue at Sebring and honestly, I am very satisfied with how my current budget-friendly setup performs. I did some testing and realized I didnt need a full carbon fiber overhaul to get the downforce needed. I have been running the Extreme Online Store Corvette C7 Z06 Stage 3 Front Splitter ABS Plastic which is way cheaper to replace if you catch a curb. It works well and the data showed significantly better front-end pressure at 120mph compared to stock. I also paired it with ACS Composite Corvette C7 Z06 Front Fender Extensions to clean up the airflow around the wheel wells. Safety is the priority here, and keeping the front pinned without spending 3k is totally doable. Im happy with how it tracks now... no complaints about the stability even through turn 17. Use the leftover cash for extra tires.
> my front end felt super light today at turn 17 and its sketching me out. I totally get that. Feeling the car float at high speeds is terrifying tbh. Unfortunately I wasted money on some cheap ebay bits last year. They were just not as good as expected. Basically started flapping at 100mph. It made my anxiety way worse lol. If you want to actually feel planted for Sebring, I’d suggest the APR Performance Carbon Fiber Front Splitter Corvette Z06. It’s sturdy. It actually works. I also had issues with heat soak until I added the LG Motorsports GT4 Carbon Hood Vent. This helps with lift too by letting air escape the engine bay. Its a bit of a bummer having to cut the hood but safety is worth it imo. Just make sure you use a Katech Front Splitter Undertray for extra support so nothing snaps off. Better safe than sorry when you're pushing those speeds.
Regarding what #1 said about "> my front end felt super light today..." - honestly it sounds like youre getting way too much air trapped under the nose. In my experience, the biggest culprit is high-pressure air building up under the hood at speed. You should definitely look at the TrackSpec Motorsports Corvette C7 Hood Louvers. They pull air out of the engine bay which kills that lift you are feeling and helps with the heat soak that usually hits us at Sebring. I have tried many setups over the years and adding APR Performance Carbon Fiber Front Canards Corvette Z06 really helps pin the front during high speed transitions. Since youre doing Sebring, you gotta watch those temps too. A DeWitts Direct Fit Aluminum Radiator Corvette Z06 is way more efficient than the stock unit for heavy track duty. Grab those and you should be good to go well under budget.
