Which roof rack is best for the new Chevrolet Equinox EV?

To add to the point above: unfortunately, most of those online fitment guides are straight up lying. I had a massive headache trying to make the Thule setup work last week and it was a total letdown. The flush rails on the EV are way thicker than the gas models, so the standard feet just slip. ngl, I almost scratched my paint trying to force it. TL;DR: Just get the Chevrolet Accessory Roof Rack Cross Rail Package for now. It is overpriced for what it is, but at least it actually stays on the car. If you really want aftermarket, the Yakima SkyLine Towers with Yakima Landing Pad 32 is the only other combo Ive seen actually work, but finding the pads in stock is a nightmare. Honestly, its super annoying that Chevy changed the specs so much without updating the parts catalog properly.

• totally agree. In my experience, forcing a bad fit is just a safety nightmare. For those thicker EV rails, Ive found the Rhino-Rack Vortex SX Roof Rack System way more reliable.
• Clamps contour to flush rails better than other brands.
• Locking pins are solid for high-wind kayak loads. Safety is priority one, so dont gamble on generic guides.

Honestly, congrats on the new ride! Ive spent way too much time and money messing with racks over the years, and in my experience, jumping into the EV game early means you gotta be careful with the fit. Ive tried a bunch of brands on my previous SUVs, and Thule usually wins for me because their mounting systems are way more solid than the cheap stuff you find on Amazon.

• check the torque twice
• stick with the big name brands for kayak weight Just get basically anything from Thule that fits a flush rail and you'll be fine. They usually update their fit kits pretty fast once they realize the mounting points shifted on the EV models. I wouldnt touch the generic stuff right now tho... nothing worse than seeing your kayak fly off on the highway!
