I just picked up my new Equinox EV last week and I'm totally clueless about what I should be putting inside it to keep it nice. It's my first brand new car and I'm super nervous about ruining the floor or the seats already. I live in Portland so it rains all the time and I'm gonna be tracking in mud constantly.
I have about $250 left in my budget for this month and I really need stuff that is easy to install because I'm not handy at all. Here is what I think I need but I dont know which brands are actually good:
Does anyone know if the stuff on Amazon actually fits or do I have to buy the expensive Chevy ones... I'm so confused by all the options out there.
Congrats on the new ride. Since youre in Portland, good mats arent optional, theyre mandatory. I've tried many different brands over the years and the Chevy official ones are honestly mediocre for the price. You want something with high edges to trap the PNW muck so it doesnt soak into the carpet. Heres what I recommend to stay under that $250 budget:
Like someone mentioned, floors are the priority. In my experience, TuxMat Chevrolet Equinox EV Floor Liners provide better vertical coverage, which tbh stops mud from soaking into carpets so you dont ruin them.
Love the new Equinox EV! Total game changer for Chevy and honestly such a blast to drive. I spent way too many hours obsessing over my own interior setup when I first brought mine home because I was terrified of that first Portland rainy season ruining the floors. I actually tried to go the ultra-cheap route at first with some trim-to-fit mats from a big box store and it was a total disaster. They looked terrible and kept getting stuck under the pedals which is actually kinda dangerous! If you want to stay under that 250 dollar limit and still get high-end coverage, here is exactly what I ended up with:
> some kind of tray for the center console because it's just a giant hole right now I’d be careful about those deep consoles. I once lost my house keys in a similar hole and spent forever digging around. I eventually got a Vesul Center Console Tray to keep things organized. Just make sure it has a rubber lining so your stuff doesnt slide and rattle... that noise can be super distracting when you're trying to focus on the road.
> Does anyone know if the stuff on Amazon actually fits or do I have to buy the expensive Chevy ones... Honestly, I've had some pretty bad luck with those generic Amazon brands lately. They always claim a custom fit but then you get them and the edges are all warped or the holes dont line up with the floor pegs. It's frustrating because the official Chevy accessories are just so overpriced for the quality you're getting... unfortunately they just dont feel as premium as they should. I think some of the bigger aftermarket names are a better middle ground, tho I'm not 100% sure if everyone has their EV-specific designs finalized yet. Someone told me the battery layout makes the floor slightly different than the gas Equinox, so just double check the descriptions. You'll figure it out tho, it just takes some trial and error sometimes.
