Hey everyone! I just picked up a 2022 Silverado and I’m itching to get it off the pavement and onto some trails. I'm planning a trip to some muddy and rocky terrain next month, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by the massive catalog of parts out there. I definitely want to protect the undercarriage, so I'm considering skid plates, but I'm wondering if I should prioritize better all-terrain tires or a recovery winch first. I’m looking for a balance between trail capability and keeping it practical for daily driving. What are the absolute "must-have" accessories you'd recommend for a Silverado to handle moderate off-road trails safely?

In my experience, prioritize BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires first! I've spent 10 years offroading Silverados and stock rubber is trash. They're amazing for daily driving and trails, ngl!! 👍

I'd actually suggest a different approach - In my experience, X-BULL Recovery Traction Boards and a Rhino USA Recovery Strap are way cheaper than armor/winches and saved me when I got STUCK!

Late to the party but armor protects vitals cuz trail damage is wayy expensive.
1. GM Underbody Shield 84273010
2. Rough Country Rock Sliders
Prioritize safety first!!

Like someone mentioned, protecting the truck is smart, but you really gotta think about how everything fits together. In my experience, adding one thing usually affects three others. I've tried many different setups over the years and compatibility is always the biggest headache. I had a situation once where I put a beefy guard on the front and didnt realize it was gonna block the airflow to the transmission cooler. My temps started climbing on even basic trails and it was a mess. It taught me to be way more cautious about how aftermarket parts mess with the factory cooling and sensors. These newer Silverados have so much tech tucked behind the grill and under the frame... if you block a sensor or change the weight distribution too much, the truck starts throwing codes. Just make sure your setup actually plays nice with the stock electronics before you go all in.

Seconding the recommendation above. Ngl safety is priority so just get any lights from Rigid or KC. im sooo satisfied with how mine keep me safe after dark!!

Just catching up on this thread and honestly, before you start buying a bunch of gear, are you planning on doing the install work yourself or taking it to a shop? I mean, a lot of the basic protection and recovery stuff is easy enough to bolt on in your driveway with basic tools, but it gets complicated pretty quick once you start messing with the newer electronics on the 2022s, you know? Basically, I'm curious what your comfort level is with like, DIY wrenching? Also, are you planning on keeping the suspension at the stock height for a while, or is a leveling kit or lift already in the plans? That really changes what you should prioritize first for trail clearance versus daily drivability, right?
