What are the must-have accessories for a new Chrysler Pacifica?

So I finally picked up my Pacifica and I am already panicked about the kids ruining the interior on our drive to Florida next week. Ive been reading about floor mats and I keep seeing WeatherTech vs TuxMat. TuxMat looks nicer but I saw some people say they are harder to spray down if things get really gross so I am stuck on that. My logic was to get those first since I have about 500 dollars set aside for extras but I am also looking at those seat back protectors for the kickers. Are the official Mopar ones better or should I just go cheap on Amazon? I dont want to waste money on stuff that just clutters the van up...

I spent way too much time researching these last year so here are the technical specs for what you're looking at.

  • WeatherTech FloorLiner HP High-Density Tri-Extruded
  • These use laser-measured HDTE material. Its a rigid tray design. Pros: easiest to clean with a pressure washer since the surface is non-porous. Cons: can feel a bit slippery when wet.
  • TuxMat Custom Fit Floor Mats Three Layer PVC
  • These use a 3-layer foam and PVC construction. Pros: way more coverage up the side walls of the footwell. Cons: the texture is known to hold onto fine dust more than the WeatherTechs do.
  • Mopar Chrysler Pacifica Seat Back Protector
  • Honestly, go with the Mopar ones for these. The cheap generic ones use flimsy elastic that sags after a few months. The Mopar version clips directly into the factory seat frame for a flush fit. Check out PacificaForums or the official Mopar parts catalog site to compare SKU numbers for your specific trim level. Pick based on whether you prioritize pressure washing or total carpet coverage.

To add to the point above: I had some issues with the generic protectors I tried first and they were just not as good as expected. Honestly, they moved around so much it felt like a safety hazard for the kids feet getting caught. I ended up getting the Brica Seat Guardian Car Seat Protector but even that hasnt been perfect for my specific van seats. It is kind of a bummer. Total waste of cash. Honestly, you should probably just search for Pacifica accessory showdown on YouTube or check the main Pacifica owners subreddit. There is a massive megathread over there that covers the TuxMat vs WeatherTech debate in way more detail than I can. I think I saw a video where a guy pours an entire gallon of milk on them to test the cleanup... just look that up. It will save you the headache of buying the wrong thing like I did.

Just saw this... honestly just search YouTube for Pacifica safety accessory tests. I watched a really reliable video before our trip that showed which mats wont slide and ive been super satisfied.

> Honestly, they moved around so much it felt like a safety hazard for the kids feet getting caught. To add to the point above: I had a similar scare with some bargain bin stuff. My kids are basically professional mess-makers and we just did a long trip last month. Im super satisfied with how the van is holding up now, but I gotta warn you about the trap effect. I thought I was being a genius with those high-wall mats, but a whole bottle of milk leaked right under the edge near the sliding door without me noticing. It sat there in the heat for three days... the smell was something else. Just a heads up, even with the best mats, you still gotta peel them back once a week to check for stowaway liquids that snuck through the gaps. Also, those cheap seat back protectors with thin elastic are a total nightmare. My youngest snapped one while trying to climb into his seat and it whipped back like a giant rubber band. Definitely look for something with heavy-duty straps that actually buckle around the headrests instead of just flimsy strings. Its way safer for the little ones.
