Hey everyone! I recently picked up a 2021 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack, and while I absolutely love the beastly performance and the retro exterior, I feel like the interior lighting is a bit of a letdown. The factory halogen bulbs look pretty dim and yellow, which doesn't really match the aggressive, modern vibe of the car. I’m looking to swap them out for a high-quality LED kit to sharpen things up.

I’ve been doing some digging online, but I’m a bit overwhelmed by the options. I’ve seen everything from cheap $15 sets on Amazon to high-end kits from places like Diode Dynamics or Luxe Auto Concepts. I really want something that is a true 'plug and play' fit because I’m worried about flickering issues or those annoying 'bulb out' warnings on the dash.

Specifically, I'm looking for a kit that covers the map lights, dome lights, and especially the vanity mirrors and trunk—the trunk is pitch black at night right now! I’m leaning toward a crisp cool white (maybe 6000K) to give it that clean, high-tech look, but I’m also curious if anyone has gone with a deep red to match the TorRed exterior paint.

My budget is around $60-$100 because I’d rather pay a bit more for quality and longevity than have to replace them in six months. Has anyone here had long-term success with a specific brand? Also, how difficult was the installation for the glove box and the vanity mirrors? I’ve heard those can be a bit tricky to pop out without scratching the plastic.

What are the best interior LED lighting kits you’ve actually used for your Challenger, and are there any specific brands I should definitely avoid?

Sooo I’ve been messing with Mopar interiors for like ten years now and honestly, while the popular brands are cool, I've had the best long-term luck with Lasfit Custom Fit LED Interior Light Kit for Dodge Challenger. They're super stable and basically never flicker cuz they use high-end resistors.

Quick technical tip: the vanity mirrors are definitely the trickiest part. Don't use a metal screwdriver or you'll 100% scratch the plastic! Get a cheap Tresalto Auto Trim Removal Tool Set to pop those lenses out safely. Red looks sick but it's kinda hard to see stuff at night, so I'd stick with 6000K white for the trunk. gl!

Sooo when I first got my Scat Pack, I felt the exact same way—the yellow halogens look totally dated next to those LED halos on the front. I'm pretty cautious about my electrical system because I've seen too many people fry their BCM or deal with flickering by using cheap Amazon bulbs. I actually spent weeks researching because I wanted something stable and high-end.

I eventually pulled the trigger on the Diode Dynamics Dodge Challenger LED Interior M-Package in 6000K cool white. Honestly, it's been about two years now and I'm still super satisfied with how they've held up. No flickering and zero 'bulb out' warnings. For your trunk issue, that kit made a huge difference... I can actually see my gym bag at night now lol.

About the install—definitely get a plastic trim tool kit. I tried using a flathead screwdriver once and almost marred the plastic on the overhead console. The vanity mirrors are the trickiest part, you gotta be really gentle popping the lenses out so you don't snap the tabs. If you're nervous about the red, maybe just do the footwells in red and keep the map lights white? But for a clean, modern look, the Diode Dynamics 6000K Cool White LED Bulbs are the way to go. It feels way more premium inside now, and ngl, it's one of the best cheap mods you can do. Just take your time with the glove box light, it's a tight squeeze in there!! peace

Totally agree with everyone saying you gotta spend a bit more to protect that BCM. Like, it's really not worth saving $40 to risk a $1k repair bill. I’ve done the swap on a few Challengers now and honestly, the biggest thing for me was making sure the LEDs actually worked with the theater dimming. If you get the wrong ones, they just strobe or flick off instantly when the car tries to fade the lights out. If you're still looking for options beyond the ones already mentioned, I've had a lot of luck with Morimoto XB LED Interior Bulbs. They have a really solid build quality and the color temperature is super consistent across the whole set, which is something some cheaper kits struggle with. For the DIY side of things, dont even bother paying a shop to do this. It’s maybe a 30-minute job tops if you take your time. Here are some tips I learned the hard way:

  • Put a towel down on the center console so you dont lose the tiny glove box bulb if it drops into the dash gap.
  • If the bulb doesnt light up, flip it 180 degrees cuz polarity matters I think. Tbh, I still forget that half the time.
  • For the trunk, I actually swapped the whole housing for a VLEDS High Output Trunk Light because the single bulb replacement still felt a bit weak for such a big space. Basically, just take it slow and you'll be fine.

So basically the consensus is to skip the cheap $15 Amazon junk cuz it'll either flicker non-stop or worse, mess with your BCM. The previous guys already mentioned some heavy hitters like the Lasfit and Diode Dynamics sets, which are definitely solid options. Tbh, your $60-$100 budget is the sweet spot for quality without getting ripped off.

I'm not 100% sure if the 2021 Scat specifically has different resistors than the older years, but IIRC, the vanity mirrors are the biggest pain. Quick tip: NEVER use a metal screwdriver to pop those covers. Use a plastic trim tool or even an old credit card wrapped in a thin cloth... those clips are LITERALLY so fragile and you dont wanna scratch that plastic. Also, in my experience, the 6000K white is way more practical for the trunk. Red looks cool but you wont be able to find anything back there at night lol. Better to stay cautious with the electrical stuff tho, gl!

Honestly, the safety side of this is highkey overlooked! I'm pretty cautious about my Scat Pack's electrical system because those Body Control Modules (BCM) are sensitive and expensive to fix if you fry 'em with cheap components. While others mentioned some big names, I'd suggest checking out **GTR Lighting** for a super stable option. I think they're some of the most reliable out there because they're built to handle voltage spikes without flickering. Plus, if you're worried about the glove box or vanity mirrors, definitely take it slow... those plastic clips are so fragile!! Use a plastic pry tool and maybe even a bit of painter's tape to protect the dash. Not 100% sure about the red matching TorRed perfectly, but a high-quality kit is basically a safety upgrade too since you'll actually see in that dark trunk. Better to spend the $100 now than risk a short later, right? gl!!

Honestly, while everyone is pushing the all-in-one kits, I actually disagree that a pre-packaged bundle is the best way to handle this for the long haul. I've been running my Scat Pack for a few years now, and in my experience, those kits usually include a couple of cheap filler bulbs for the vanity mirrors that dont quite match the color of the main map lights. If you really want that high-end look without any flickering or BCM issues, I think you should look into VLEDS instead of a kit. They are definitely more expensive, but the build quality is on another level. I went with their 5500K bulbs and they look super clean without being too blue. Also, for the trunk specifically, a single bulb swap is usually still pretty dim because of how the housing is angled. I ended up adding a VLEDS Trunk Light Strip and it makes a WORLD of difference if you are actually trying to see anything back there at night. Just a few tips from my install:

  • Always test the polarity before snapping the plastic covers back on
  • Wear gloves to keep oils off the LED chips
  • Use a plastic trim tool for the map lights or you will definitely mar the plastic Not 100% sure if the 2021 has different harness clips than my older model, but the bulb sizes should be basically the same!
