I’m losing my garage space for a few months, so my SF90 has to brave the winter outside. I need a high-quality, weatherproof cover that won't scratch the finish or trap moisture under heavy snow. Any recommendations for a custom-fit option that handles the aero properly? Which specific brand do you trust for outdoor storage?
i had to park my 488 outside during a reno once and i was terrified tbh. basically, you gotta spend a bit now to save a lot on paint correction later... For your SF90, i suggest:
- Coverking Autobody Armor Custom Car Cover
- Gust Guard Car Cover Wind Straps lesson learned: don't skip the straps cuz the wind will rub that cover against the aero. gl!!
Totally agree with the above! Unfortunately, I had issues with moisture trapping before and it literally RUINED my clear coat. For an SF90, you gotta prioritize breathability for safety. I suggest the Specialised Covers Stormforce Custom Outdoor Car Cover. Technical must-haves:
- 4-layer breathable membrane: vapor escapes, but snow stays out.
- Welded seams: prevents leaks at aero points.
- Soft fleece: stops wind-chafing. Basically, without airflow, you're making a sauna for ur car. gl!
Seconding the recommendation above! This^. Honestly, I had a moment to think about this more cuz I actually went through a similar nightmare with my previous setup. I had a custom-fit one for a high-performance car and it wasnt as good as expected... basically, the wind got underneath and caused the fabric to vibrate against the sharp aero bits for three months straight. By spring, the edges of the wing looked dull as hell. What I learned from that mess:
- Breathability is actually more vital than "waterproof" ratings to prevent a condensation trap.
- Even a tiny bit of grit trapped under there will wreck ur finish from the constant movement.
- If it isnt tight enough, the SF90s sharp lines and aero gaps will basically act like a knife on the inner lining. Seriously, I mean... it's just risky. My current setup uses a soft liner which helps, but I still had issues with moisture build-up from the ground. Have u thought about a portable shield instead??
