Which off-road mods should I tackle first on my new Bronco, a winch or a lift kit? Im currently looking at the Warn VR EVO 10-S with a hidden bumper mount vs the Eibach Pro-Lift kit. Im really torn because I live in Colorado and want to hit some trails near Silverton this July but my budget is stuck at $2,500 for the moment.

The lift seems better for clearance but I dont want to be that guy who gets stuck and has no way to pull himself out. Plus my garage is super low so I gotta be careful with height. Maybe just do the winch and some beefier tires instead? What would you guys do if you had a tight deadline and a limited budget...

Thinking about your garage... honestly, just grab some BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 315/70R17 tires and call it a day. Its a decent option cuz you gain actual ground clearance without the height issues of a lift. Definitely check out the TrailDamage website for CO trail reports. Its way better than flying blind when you are on a tight budget tho.

Id definitely prioritize recovery gear over a lift if youre heading to Silverton soon. Those trails can get tricky with the shelf roads and unpredictable weather, so being able to pull yourself out is a massive safety factor. Since you mentioned your garage height is a concern, installing the Eibach Pro-Lift-Kit might push things too far and cause a lot of stress every time you park. Most stock Broncos are actually surprisingly capable in terms of clearance for the moderate stuff out there, but no amount of lift helps if you lose traction on a wet rock or soft shoulder. If I were in your shoes with a $2,500 limit, I would suggest going with the Warn VR EVO 10-S Winch with Synthetic Rope and a solid mounting solution. Make sure to factor in the weight of the winch too because it can sometimes cause the front end to sag slightly, which might affect your handling. You might also want to consider using some of that leftover budget for a good set of recovery boards like Maxtrax MKII Recovery Boards and a reliable tire deflator. Airing down your tires will give you way more grip than a couple inches of lift ever would. Just be careful with those hidden mounts since they can sometimes restrict airflow to the intercooler if they arent designed perfectly. It is a more methodical way to build a rig that actually gets you home safely without breaking the bank or hitting your garage door frame.

One thing you really gotta watch out for is the weight of that winch setup. If you put that Warn VR EVO 10-S Synthetic Rope Winch on the front without heavier springs, your front end is gonna sag quite a bit. It totally ruins the approach angle. Since your garage is low, maybe skip the lift for now and focus on protection. I would suggest looking at the Asfir 4x4 Aluminum Engine Skid Plate because it adds zero height but saves your oil pan on those rocky Silverton trails. Definitely check out the Bronco6G forums for their technical threads on garage clearance. It is basically the bible for us. Also, be careful with tire sizing... going to a 35 inch tire might be the thing that keeps you out of your garage. Id look at a solid air setup like the ARB High Performance 12V Portable Air Compressor instead. Airing down gives you way more grip than a lift kit ever will tbh.
