Hey everyone, I’m currently driving a 2015 Genesis Sedan (DH) and I still absolutely love the car, but the interior is starting to feel a bit dated compared to the newer G80s with their fancy integrated LEDs. I really want to refresh the cabin with some high-quality ambient lighting, but I’m worried about ending up with a kit that looks like a cheap 'taped-on' DIY project. I’m looking for something that offers a more OEM-plus look, specifically fiber optic strips that can tuck neatly into the dash and door panel seams.
I’ve been browsing some universal kits on Amazon and looking at the Govee options, but I’m curious if anyone has found a kit that fits the specific contours of the older Genesis models well. I’d prefer a setup that can be hardwired into the fuse box so I don't have wires hanging out of the 12V socket, and app control for color matching the factory ice-blue button backlighting would be a huge plus. My budget is around $150–$200 for something durable. Has anyone here successfully installed a kit in an older Genesis, and if so, which brand offered the cleanest fitment without rattling or falling off?
So basically the consensus is that the DH Genesis has some *really* tight interior gaps, making it tough to get that clean OEM-plus look without a struggle. We've seen one person pull it off with fiber optics, while another had a total nightmare with the Govee RGBIC Interior Car Lights. Honestly, looking at the market data for older luxury sedans, I'd suggest avoiding the thick fiber optic tubes altogether.
To sum up what's been said and add my two cents:
1. Skip the standard fiber optics; they're too bulky for those 2015 seams. Look into Keepsmile 6 in 1 Acrylic Interior Ambient Light Kit instead—the acrylic strips are way thinner and look much more integrated.
2. For that factory ice-blue match, you'll want a kit with a solid app like the Type S Smart Interior Trim Lighting Kit which has better color granular control than cheaper Amazon brands.
3. DEFINITELY hardwire it. Tapping into the fuse box with a Lumision Add-A-Circuit Fuse Tap is much safer for the BCM than splicing directly into factory harnesses.
Good luck with the install, it's gonna look sick if you take your time! 👍
I'd actually suggest a different approach—instead of focusin' on the flashiest app features, have you looked into the wiring safety for these older DH models? What's your comfort level with tapping into the BCM vs. the fuse box? 👍
Quick question - are you planning on hardwiring this to the fuse box yourself or taking it to a shop? Honestly, I tried installing the Govee RGBIC Interior Car Lights in my 2015 DH and it was kinda a nightmare bc the gaps are tighter than they look... totally messed up the trim clips.
Before I give full advice, I gotta know if you're okay with pulling the door panels off, cuz *Acrylic* strips like the Dreamcolor Acrylic Interior Car LED Strip Kit look way more OEM than the floppy fiber optic ones that always fall out. Unfortunately, the cheap fiber optics I bought first were basically garbage and looked super fake during the day, so I'm curious if you've looked into the newer rigid acrylic versions yet??
Bump - same question here
I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree with the advice to skip the fiber optics or tubes. Honestly, if you want that true OEM-plus look in a DH, the acrylic strips can sometimes look a bit too bright and aftermarket. I've spent a lot of time DIYing my own interior and the trick is just having the right pry tools for those tight gaps... In my opinion, you should just look into OPT7 for their ambient kits. They have that high-end feel and the app control is way more stable than the generic stuff you find elsewhere. Just grab any of their multi-piece setups and you'll be set. It takes some patience to tuck the wires properly, but its totally doable if youre comfortable working around the fuse box. Dont let the tight gaps scare you off, it just takes a bit of finessing!
Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.

sooo i actually did this exact thing! i found a kit that tucked perfectly into my dash seams... honestly looks stock and only cost me like $160. im super happy with it!
