Best mud guards for protecting Genesis GV80 side panels?

I’ve been absolutely loving my new Genesis GV80, but I’ve noticed that the side panels and lower doors are total magnets for road debris and mud. Even after a short drive on damp roads, the kick-up from the front tires leaves a mess all along the bodywork. I’m really concerned about long-term rock chips and paint damage, especially given how beautiful the finish is. I’ve looked at the OEM guards from the dealership, but they seem a bit small and I’m not sure if they offer enough coverage to actually protect the panels. I’ve also seen some universal options online, but I’m worried they might look out of place on such a premium SUV. I’m looking for something that strikes a balance between a sleek, integrated look and genuine functional protection. Has anyone found a specific brand or aftermarket kit that fits perfectly without needing major modifications? Also, if you’ve installed the official Genesis ones, do you find they actually keep the spray off the doors, or should I look for something with a wider profile?

Hi there, I totally get the struggle! I've been through this with my last two SUVs. For your GV80, I would suggest comparing these two routes:

1. Genesis GV80 OEM Mud Guards
- Pros: Perfect color match and sleek, factory look.
- Cons: Honestly, they're a bit small and don't catch all the spray.

2. WeatherTech MudFlaps for Genesis GV80
- Pros: Much better coverage and protects the paint from rock chips.
- Cons: Look a bit more "utility" than luxury.

Personally, I'd go with the WeatherTechs for better protection! Hope this helps!

I went through this last year when I first got my GV80, and honestly, I was terrified of drilling into the bodywork or messing up the look. I tried the Genesis GV80 OEM Splash Guards (set of 4) first because they looked the cleanest. Tbh, they are a bit small; they catch some mud, but I still see spray hitting the lower doors. I'm considering adding WeatherTech No-Drill Mud Flaps for Genesis GV80 instead for more coverage, but I’m worried about the fit. Maybe check with a pro installer first to be safe?

Seconding the recommendation above! Those OEM guards are definitely the cleanest looking, but honestly, if you're worried about performance, they can be a bit underwhelming for the price.

Just saw this thread and wanted to add a warning: **be careful with universal 'no-drill' kits found on random marketplaces.** I've seen a few GV80 owners try cheap universal flaps that claim to fit, but they often use metal clips that can scratch the paint or trap salt and moisture, leading to corrosion over time.

From a cost-conscious perspective, here's how I see the options:

1. **OEM Path:** Using Genesis GV80 Genuine OEM Mud Guard Kit (T6F46-AK000) - Pros: Integrated look, no-drill. Cons: Expensive (~$100+) and small coverage.
2. **Premium Aftermarket:** WeatherTech MudFlaps for Genesis GV80 - Pros: Much better coverage, laser-measured fit. Cons: Slightly more industrial look.

Personally, I think the WeatherTechs are the best value if you actually drive in mud. They're way more functional than the factory ones and easier on the wallet than repairing rock chips later! Hope this helps!

Honestly, I totally agree with the point about the OEM guards being more for show than actual protection. They look great because they're basically invisible, but for a car this wide, they just dont have the flare needed to catch the spray coming off those big tires. I've spent a lot of time looking at the market for these, and if your looking for that middle ground between the dinky OEM ones and the bulky WeatherTechs, you should check out these options:

  • BestEvMod Mud Guards for Genesis GV80
  • A-Premium Splash Guards for GV80 Basically, the BestEvMod ones are pretty popular in the enthusiast groups right now because they offer a slightly wider profile than factory but stay tucked in enough to keep the luxury aesthetic. I mean, they're molded specifically for the body lines so they dont look like some universal flap you'd see on a truck. From my market research, the A-Premium ones are a bit more budget-friendly but still offer better coverage than the official dealership kit. One thing to consider from a long-term protection perspective is that mud guards alone might not be enough if you live in a salt belt. A lot of guys are actually doing a strip of clear PPF on the lower rocker panels and then adding the guards over that. Its a bit more expensive but it's the only way to be 100% sure you wont get those tiny sandblasting pits over time. Just some food for thought!

Been thinking about your situation and I would suggest exercising caution before committing to the high dealership markups. You can often find functional protection for much less if you look at third-party manufacturers. Its important to ensure that whatever you install wont trap salt or debris against the paint, which can lead to corrosion over time. If you are trying to stay within a budget, you might want to consider:

  • A-Premium Splash Guards for Genesis GV80
  • These offer a very similar profile to the factory parts but at a significantly lower price point.
  • YHT Auto Mud Flaps for Genesis GV80
  • Another budget-friendly choice that provides basic protection without the premium brand markup. Make sure to verify the fitment for your specific trim level before purchasing. Sometimes the larger wheel options require slightly more clearance, and you dont want to deal with rubbing issues after you have already started the install.
