Hey everyone! I’ve been daily driving my Genesis G70 for about six months now, and while I absolutely love the performance and that sleek luxury vibe, I feel like the stock wheels are just a bit too 'tame' for the car's aggressive lines. I really want to give it a more personalized, sporty stance without ruining the refined ride quality that Genesis nailed so well.
I’ve been doing some digging on forums and Instagram, and I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by the options. I’m currently torn between going for a classic mesh look or something more modern with thin, concave spokes to really show off those Brembo calipers. I’m also debating whether I should stick with the factory 19-inch diameter to keep the tire costs down or if it’s worth bumping up to 20s for that filled-out wheel well look.
My main concern is the offset and fitment. I’m looking for a 'flush' fitment that doesn't require rolling the fenders or deal with any annoying rubbing when I’ve got passengers in the back. My budget is around $2,000 to $3,000 for the set, so I'm looking for something high-quality like Vossen, Velgen, or maybe some lightweight flow-formed options from Apex or Enkei to help unsprung weight.
I’ve seen a few guys running staggered setups, but I’m curious if that significantly changes the handling dynamics or if I should just stay squared for easier rotations. If you’ve upgraded your G70, what brands or specific models are you running, and did you have to make any suspension adjustments to get the look right?
For those of you who have already made the swap, what do you think are the best aftermarket wheels that balance that 'VIP' luxury look with a sporty edge, and what specific specs (offset/width) would you recommend for a perfect flush fit?
oh man, i feel u on the stock wheels... unfortunately, i went through a whole mess trying to get that 'flush' look on my G70 and ended up wasting so much money. i initially tried some cheap 20s but honestly the ride quality was terrible and i bent a rim on a pothole within a month. not as good as expected at all!!
sooo, for your budget of $2k-$3k, i highkey recommend staying with 19s to save on rubber. i finally settled on the Enkei Tuning TY-5 19x8.5 +35 for the front and Enkei Tuning TY-5 19x9.5 +40 for the rear. that staggered setup looks way better and fits basically flush without any rubbing, even with people in the back! i paid about $1,400 for the set, which left me plenty of room for some Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 225/40R19 front and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 255/35R19 rear tires.
TL;DR: Stick to 19-inch flow-formed wheels like Enkei to keep the weight down and save ur wallet on tires while keeping that smooth luxury ride, right? gl! 👍
Ok so, I've been modding cars for like 15 years now and I'd actually suggest a different approach than the previous guys. Everyone always jumps straight to those high-end brands, but honestly, you're paying a massive brand tax. If you wanna stay under that $2k-3k budget INCLUDING good rubber, spending $2,500 just on rims alone is gonna blow your wallet wide open once you add tires and sensors.
Respectfully, I'd consider another option like the Konig Ampliform 19x8.5 ET35 or Konig Oversteer 19x8.5 ET35. They use flow-forming tech so they're super light—basically giving you that unsprung weight advantage without the Vossen price tag.
1. Stick to a square 19x8.5 +35 setup. It's perfectly flush.
2. You'll save a ton on rotations.
3. Grab some Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus 245/40R19 tires.
Basically, you get 90% of the look for half the price. GL!
Saved for later, ty!
For your situation, I would suggest sticking with 19s if you wanna keep that ride quality. If you go 20s, the rubber gets so thin it's gonna feel harsh, especially on the G70's stiff chassis. For that perfect flush fitment without rubbing, aim for a 19x8.5 +30 or +35 in the front and 19x9.5 +40 in the rear.
I'd compare two solid options for ur budget:
1. Vossen HF-5 Gloss Black 19 inch - These have that modern thin-spoke look that'll show off those Brembos beautifully. They're hybrid forged so they're light but pricey.
2. Apex VS-5RS Forged 19x9.5 - These are actual forged wheels. Way stronger and lighter than flow-formed stuff, and the clearance for big brakes is basically the best in the industry.
Staggered definitely feels more planted in the corners, but yeah, you lose the ability to rotate. I think it's worth it for the look tho! Just make sure to check the load ratings... be careful with cheap reps cuz they'll crack on a heavy car like this. gl!
Honestly, I've spent way too many years trackside and in the garage to ignore the safety risks of chasing a 'look' over performance. My biggest warning? Be extremely careful with cheap spacers or aggressive offsets just to get that flush fitment. If you mess with the scrub radius too much, you're literally gonna compromise the car's emergency braking and high-speed stability. It might look cool at a meet, but at 70mph on a wet highway, you want that suspension geometry working *for* you, not against you.
For your situation, I'd suggest sticking to a high-quality flow-formed 19-inch setup. Here's why:
- Safety: Lightweight wheels from brands like Apex or Vossen keep the unsprung weight down, which saves your suspension components from premature wear.
- Handling: A 19x8.5 +35 setup is basically the sweet spot for the G70—it looks flush but doesn't risk your tires blowing out from fender rub.
- Staggered vs Square: Staggered looks aggressive, but for a daily, a square setup is safer and cheaper because you can actually rotate your tires properly.
In my experience, going to 20s is a mistake for this chassis. I've seen too many cracked barrels because there just isn't enough sidewall to absorb impact. Stick with the 19s, get a quality brand that values structural integrity, and you'll keep that luxury ride without the headache. gl!
Re: "Honestly, I've spent way too many years trackside..." - yongstinnett76 is spot on about the geometry. I've spent a lot of time in the garage messing with fitment, and if you go too wide or too aggressive with the offset, the car just stops tracking straight. It's not worth the headache. Stick to 19s for a daily; 20s look cool but you'll feel every pebble on the road. I've compared a few setups on this chassis and these two are my favorites for staying within that $3k budget:
