Curious about one thing: are you looking for something that just covers the metal part, or are you worried about the painted area too?

I've been thinking about your G80 and, from a safety/reliability standpoint, I'd suggest:

* Go with 3M brand films for a clean, non-slip finish.
* Look into some WeatherTech universal options if you want more grip.

Basically, I'm super HAPPY with the film approach cuz it doesn't mess with the door clearance or sensors. Thoughts?

I went through this last year with my G80... and honestly, I had issues with those cheap universal ones. They looked kinda tacky against the luxury interior and the adhesive was a MESS when I tried to reposition them. I finally tried Lamin-x Door Sill Guard 4 inch x 60 inch and it's pretty good, but seriously, if you want that factory look without the residue risk, maybe talk to a pro about custom PPF? I've been a bit disappointed with DIY kits lately cuz the fit is never 100% perfect, you know? gl!

Honestly, I’d just get XPEL Door Sill Guard film. It’s basically invisible, keeps things mint, and won’t leave nasty residue on ur G80 like those cheap plastic covers do.

Quick reply while I have a sec... i would suggest being really careful with anything that isnt precision cut. Ive seen people ruin their paint trying to trim film on the car with a hobby knife. If you want the best look, Genesis G80 Illuminated Door Sills are unbeatable for that luxury vibe, but the wiring can be a total nightmare and might cause issues later. On the other hand, Suntek Paint Protection Film Ultra is way more durable than basic 3M, though its trickier to apply without bubbles if you arent experienced. You might also look at XPEL Ultimate Plus Paint Protection Film which has a really nice glossy finish that matches the clear coat perfectly. Reminds me of when I tried to protect the piano black trim on the dash. Spent way too much time worrying about the sills and then realized the console was scratching just from me putting my phone down. Ended up obsessing over interior ceramic coatings for a week. The G80 interior is so pretty you just end up worrying about everything lol. Anyway, but yeah.
