I’m looking for a rugged, waterproof cargo liner for my Honda Passport to handle muddy hiking gear and grocery spills. I’ve looked at WeatherTech and Husky, but I’m worried about the fit with the rear seats folded down. Does anyone have a favorite brand that offers full coverage and doesn't slide around? What are you using?

Well, I totally get being cautious about the fit! For your situation, I would suggest looking at the SMARTLINER Custom Fit Cargo Liner for 2019-2024 Honda Passport. I think it's a solid budget-friendly alternative to the big brands. It usually runs around $70-$80, which honestly saves you a chunk of change. Just make sure to be careful when folding the seats; some cheap liners might bunch up, but this one stayed put for me!

Just sharing my experience: I've dealt with this for years across multiple SUVs. In my experience, those hard plastic tubs are a safety hazard because gear slides around like crazy during sudden stops. I eventually switched to the Lloyd Mats Northridge Custom Fit Cargo Mat for my Passport. It’s heavy-duty rubber that actually grips your gear, and unlike the Canvasback, it stays put without Velcro. Definitely a solid alternative if you're worried about reliability!

Respectfully, I'd consider another option before dropping big bucks on those molded liners. I've been an enthusiast for years, and honestly, spending $150+ on plastic seems crazy when you can get the Canvasback Cargo Liner for Honda Passport 2019-2024 for way better seat-down coverage!

Not to disagree, but those hard plastic trays like the Smartliner or WeatherTech actually create a huge gap when you fold the seats down, which is a total nightmare for hiking gear. I've had a different experience using the Canvasback because it actually Velcros directly to the seat backs. It stays put, covers every inch, and you can still flip the seats up or down independently without moving a bulky tray.

Warning: Just be careful with generic "universal" mats. They slide around like crazy and usually don't have the cutouts for the tie-down hooks, which is a major safety concern if your gear isn't secured. Seriously, go for the custom fabric-style liner if you want full coverage on a budget! Hope this helps!

Totally agree with the points about the hard plastic liners being a bit of a mess with gear sliding around. Tbh, if you really want that full-coverage, rugged feel for hiking gear, I’ve always been a fan of the DIY approach. It sounds a bit much, but it’s actually pretty simple to get a *perfect* fit if you're willing to do a little trimming yourself. Basically, I’ve found that self-service options usually hold up better:
* Buy a high-quality universal rubber mat, something like the Motor Trend FlexTough Heavy Duty Rubber Cargo Liner.
* Lay it out in the back with the seats folded exactly how you want them.
* Use a fresh utility knife to cut around the wheel wells and seat hinges. It saves you a ton of money and you don't have to worry about those weird gaps where mud always seems to find its way through. I'm always a little worried about making a wrong cut, but it's usually pretty forgiving if you go slow. For heavy gear, that thick rubber is just way more reliable than thin plastic... maybe worth a shot if you're feeling handy...
