Hey everyone! I recently picked up the new Infiniti QX55, and while I’m absolutely in love with that sleek, coupe-like silhouette, I’m starting to realize that the interior cargo space is a bit tight for my weekend adventures. I really need to install a reliable roof rack system to carry my mountain bikes and the occasional cargo box, but I’m worried about how it might affect the car’s unique lines and fuel efficiency.

I’ve been browsing through Thule and Yakima catalogs, but I’m a bit confused about the fitment since the QX55 has those specific integrated flush rails. I’m particularly concerned about wind noise at highway speeds—I’d hate to ruin the quiet cabin experience with a constant whistling sound. Also, I want to make sure whatever I install won't interfere with the sunroof operation or scratch the finish on the rails. I’ve looked at the OEM crossbars from the dealership, but they seem a bit pricey compared to some aftermarket options.

Has anyone here already installed a rack on their QX55? I’d love to know which specific towers and crossbars you went with and if you noticed any major hit to your MPG. Do you recommend sticking with the official Infiniti parts, or is there an aftermarket setup that looks more low-profile and integrated?

TL;DR: Thule WingBar Edge for Infiniti QX55 for quiet, Yakima JetStream with SightLine Towers for value.

- Thule: Super sleek, silent. Con: Pricey.
- Yakima: Sturdy, cheaper. Con: Whistles a bit.

Best choice: I would suggest Thule so you dont ruin the cabin vibe, but be careful with sunroof clearance. Honestly, MPG hit is tiny if you remove them when not in use! Peace.

Stick with premium brands like Thule or Yakima. Respectfully, id consider another option cuz budget racks worry me—safety and build quality are *WAY* more important than saving money on gear!

Building on the earlier suggestion, I really have to agree that prioritizing build quality over a low price point is the way to go here. Mounting heavy bikes or a cargo box over a glass roof requires components you can actually trust. I would suggest the Yakima SightLine Towers combined with Yakima JetStream Black 50 inch Crossbars as a very reliable alternative. They are specifically designed for the type of flush rails on the QX55 and the fitment is much more precise than generic brands. Quick tip: Be very careful with the sunroof clearance. Even with low-profile racks, the tilt function can sometimes clip the bars. I would recommend doing a slow-motion test of the sunroof before you fully load it up. Also, make sure to check the mounting bolts after your first 50 miles... vibrations can sometimes loosen things up initially and its better to be safe than sorry with your paint job. If you want something even sturdier, the Thule WingBar Evo setup is probably the most dependable option on the market right now.

For your situation, i've used racks for years but honestly the Infiniti QX55 OEM Crossbars are way too expensive.

- OEM: fits well but over $400.
- Turtle Air 1 Roof Rack for Infiniti QX55: around $160, super low-profile.
- Thule WingBar Edge: quietest, but basically $600.

honestly, Turtle is the best choice. it wont ruin the lines and saves cash. gl!
