Hey everyone! I’m beyond excited to be picking up my Jaguar I-PACE HSE next week. It’s my first jump into the world of luxury EVs, and while I’ve done a fair bit of reading, I’m still a little fuzzy on the "must-have" gear I should keep in the trunk. The car comes with the basic setup, but I want to be fully prepared for both daily commutes and the occasional long-distance road trip.

I’m specifically wondering if I should invest in a high-quality Type 2 to Type 2 cable for public AC stations, or if most of you find the tethered home units and DC fast chargers are enough? Also, I’ve heard conflicting opinions on carrying a "granny charger" for standard domestic sockets—is it worth the space for emergencies? Finally, since the HSE has such a premium interior, I’d love recommendations for a sturdy cable bag to keep the boot from looking like a mess of wires. I’m aiming for a balance between being prepared for any scenario and not cluttering the car with unnecessary gadgets.

For those of you who have been living with the I-PACE for a while, what are the absolute non-negotiable charging accessories you’d recommend to a new owner?

hey! sooo excited for u picking up the HSE!! i’m also pretty new to this, but honestly, i’m a bit of a worrier so i like being prepared. For your situation, i think a Mennekes Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable 32A 7m is a total must-have. Here is how i see it:
Type 2 Cable vs Granny Charger:
The Type 2 cable is for faster public AC charging when there is no tethered lead. Its basically essential if u travel. On the other hand, the Jaguar Land Rover Universal Charging Cable with Domestic Plug is strictly for emergencies. Its slow, but i feel way safer having it in the trunk just in case. To keep it clean, i suggest the Jaguar I-PACE Branded Cable Storage Bag. I mean, you dont want your luxury interior looking like a junk drawer, right?? gl!! 👍

yo, congrats on the HSE! i've been driving mine for a bit now and honestly, being cautious is the way to go. i once got stuck at a remote B&B with a dead public post nearby and basically had to beg to use a wall socket... not fun lol. i learned my lesson about being prepared the hard way. here's my technical take on what you actually need: 1. Main Cable: I'd go with the EV-Peak Type 2 to Type 2 32A 22kW 5m Charging Cable. even though the Jag won't pull 22kW AC, the heavier duty wiring handles heat way better, which is safer for the car's electronics long-term imo.
2. Emergency: the Masterplug Mode 2 EV Charging Cable 10A 10m is highkey essential for those 'middle of nowhere' moments. 3. Storage: i use the Tuff-Luv EV Cable Carry Bag to keep the boot looking sharp. just be careful with domestic sockets and maybe get a pro to check your home wiring first. gl! 👍
