So I finally picked up my 2024 Sportage Hybrid last week and I'm loving the mpg so far but the PNW rain is already trashing the carpet. I've been a die-hard WeatherTech guy for my last three SUVs but I heard a rumor that the hybrid floor pan is slightly different near the rear vents compared to the standard gas model.

I dont want to drop $200 on a set just to have them not sit flush or block airflow to the battery. Has anyone tried the SmartLiners or maybe the TuxMat ones? I need something that can handle heavy mud from hiking but actually fits the hybrid layout properly. What are you guys using that actually fits right?

Honestly, I had a really rough time with this exact issue last month. I've always been a loyal fan, but unfortunately, the WeatherTech FloorLiner 2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid just didnt cut it this time around. The fitment near those rear vents was way off and it felt like it was gonna block the airflow to the battery which is super sketchy for a hybrid. It was honestly a letdown. I went through a few options to see what actually worked:

  • SmartLiner Custom Fit Floor Mats for 2023-2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid - the fit was decent but they felt kinda thin and plastic-y for the price.
  • TuxMat All-Weather Floor Mats for Kia Sportage Hybrid 2023-2024 - these are absolutely the way to go. I ended up sticking with the TuxMats because they cover almost every inch of carpet and they actually have the cutouts for the vents designed perfectly. It's a bummer the big brands havent caught up yet, but these look way more premium anyway.

Looked into the technical specs for this when I got mine and the floor pan variation is definitely real because of the HEV battery cooling duct under the rear seat. Picking a budget-friendly route that actually accounts for those specific dimensions saved me some serious cash. The performance from the Smartliner Custom Fit Floor Mats for 2023-2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid has been excellent:

  • Laser-scanned fitment leaves plenty of clearance for those rear air vents so theres no risk of obstructing the battery system.
  • Low-density polyethylene material stays flexible even in freezing temps.
  • Total cost is usually around 30% less than the boutique brands. Everything sits flush and doesnt slide around at all since they use the factory floor hooks. Tbh spending way over $100 on mats seems like overkill when these specs match the high-end stuff perfectly. No complaints so far.

Jumping in real quick because I feel your pain. Honestly, its so annoying that some of these massive brands cant get the hybrid specs right when the car has been out this long. I had a terrible experience with a generic set that claimed to fit but basically suffocated the battery intake... actually scary. If you want reliability without the WeatherTech headache, look at TuxMat. They are pricey but the coverage is insane for mud. Quick tips for your hunt:

  • Check the official Kia Accessories site first to find the exact OEM part numbers for HEV. It helps you cross-reference if a third-party mat is legit.
  • Avoid anything that says it fits both Gas and Hybrid models unless they specifically show the vent cutout. I eventually tried the TuxMat 2023-2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid Custom Floor Mats and they are basically a bathtub for your car floor. If those are too much, Husky Liners WeatherBeater 2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid are usually a solid backup that respect the vent clearance better than WeatherTech. Just dont settle for the generic stuff, you'll regret it when the mud starts caking.

Congrats on the new ride! The fuel savings on the Sportage Hybrid are just amazing and I absolutely love mine. I found a killer setup that handles those hybrid vents perfectly, but I need to know a few things first:

  • Do you want high walls that cover the sides completely for all that mud?
  • Whats your max budget for the set? It makes a huge difference in which brand actually fits!

Re: "Jumping in real quick because I feel your..."

  • Krakensek is totally right! It is just insane that these companies havent caught up with the hybrid specs yet. I have been driving Kias for a decade and this is the first time I've seen such a weird fitment issue with the floor pans. Seriously love this car but the mat situation is a headache! Honestly, I think I saw someone mention that 3D MAXpider was working on a hybrid-specific version? Not 100% sure if they actually released it tho... IIRC some guys on Reddit were saying the fit was still a bit tight around the battery intake. Here is what I've been hearing lately:
  • OEM rubber mats are safe for the vents but they basically have no walls for mud.
  • I heard a rumor that some people are actually using the 2023 mats and they fit okay-ish, but that sounds risky.
  • Some folks swear by the 3D mats for the looks, but the vent clearance is still a huge question mark for me. Anyway, just my two cents based on what I've been reading! I’m still using my gross carpet mats because I’m terrified of blocking that vent lol. Let us know if you find a winner!
