Hey everyone! We recently joined the Carnival club with a 2024 SX-Prestige, and man, we are absolutely loving the space. However, after just one week of ownership and a single rainy soccer practice, I’m already starting to panic about the pristine carpet in the back. Between the kids' muddy cleats, the double stroller, and our shedding Golden Retriever, I know I need a high-quality cargo liner before things get out of hand.
The Carnival has such a unique layout, especially with that deep storage well behind the third row. I’ve been looking at a few options online, but I’m a bit overwhelmed. I’m specifically looking for something that offers a perfect fit for the 8-passenger Slide-Flex seating configuration. My main concern is finding a liner that doesn't interfere with the seats when I need to slide them forward or fold the third row down into the floor.
I’ve checked out the official Kia dealership mats, but they seem a bit thin for the price. I’m also looking at WeatherTech and TuxMat, but I’m curious if anyone has real-world experience with how they handle the 'stow and go' functionality of the rear seats. Do you have to remove the liner every time you want to change the seating arrangement, or is there a clever split-design option out there that stays in place? I’d also love something with a bit of a lip around the edges to catch spills—we already had a gallon of milk tip over, and it was a close call!
I’m willing to spend a bit more for something that looks 'factory' and doesn't have that cheap plastic smell, but durability is definitely the priority here. For those of you who have been living with the Carnival for a while, which cargo liner has actually held up to the chaos of family life? Would you recommend going with the all-weather rubber style, or is there a better specialized brand I’m missing?
Basically, cargo liners are safety barriers for ur resale value right?? For ur situation, I mean, u gotta get TuxMat Cargo Liner for Kia Carnival 8-Passenger Slide-Flex. I've literally tried them all and nothing beats the coverage!! It actually fits the deep well perfectly without bunching up when u fold the seats. Plus, the material is highkey durable and has NO plastic smell. Just make sure u install it exactly as the manual says to maintain the seat tracks' integrity. Amazing stuff! 👍
Honestly, since you've got kids and a dog, you gotta think about safety and slip resistance. I've seen some liners that are basically hard plastic skates, which is a total hazard for a Golden Retriever in the back!
In my experience, Canvasback Kia Carnival Cargo Liner is the way to go for the 8-passenger Slide-Flex. It's unique because it's a heavy-duty fabric that actually attaches to the back of the seats. This is a game changer for the 'stow and go' stuff because you don't have to pull the liner out every time you fold the third row down. It just folds with the seat, right? Plus, it's not slick like those cheap rubber ones, so your dog won't be sliding around when you hit the brakes.
If you're super worried about that milk spill though, maybe check out Lloyd Mats Northridge Custom Fit All-Weather Floor Mats. They have a unique weave pattern that traps liquid better than a flat liner without being bulky. Safety first, especially with cargo shifting around back there!
so i just found this thread and wanted to chime in... congrats on the carnival! honestly that 8-passenger slide-flex setup is amazing but yeah, its a total nightmare for floor mats. for your situation i would suggest being really cautious about any liner that claims to be "universal" because the tolerances on those seat tracks are tight.
im not 100% sure on the exact dimensions, but i think you should look into those liners that actually attach to the seat backs with velcro—i think the brand is Canvasback? iirc they’re popular because they stay on when you fold the seats down into the well, so you dont have to constantly haul a heavy rubber mat out of the van every time you need more space. but be careful though, because those fabric ones dont have the "lip" to catch a gallon of milk like a WeatherTech would.
technically speaking, if you go with a heavy-duty rubber style, make sure it doesnt interfere with the latching mechanism. if the mat is even a few millimeters too thick near the floor anchors, the seat might feel like its locked when it actually isnt... which is a major safety risk if you’re hauling kids. i would suggest checking the return policy before you buy anything expensive just in case the fitment is off near those sliding rails. definitely stick to the big brands like WeatherTech or maybe look at the rugged Kia ones again, even if they seem thin, they’re designed for the safety specs. good luck with the golden retriever hair lol, that stuff gets everywhere!!
I definitely agree with Reply #4 that the Canvasback is top-tier for dogs! Most liners focus on spills, but pet hair on rubber is actually a total nightmare to clean. Quick question before I break down the market options: do you usually keep your third row folded down for the dog, or do you need something that protects the deep well while the seats are up? That totally changes which brand offers the best value for your setup!
For your situation, I've found that the expensive brands aren't always the best for messy families. I actually went with the WeatherTech Cargo Liner for Kia Carnival and tbh it's a solid, durable option for the deep well. But honestly, if you want to save some cash, check out the Smartliner All-Weather Custom Fit Cargo Liner for Kia Carnival. It's way cheaper and basically does the same thing with a great lip for spills. Just a heads up—you'll likely have to fold the liner or move it if you're constantly stowing that third row, cuz a truly "fixed" one-piece that also allows stowing doesn't really exist. Good luck!
TL;DR
So I just saw this thread and wanted to jump in because I actually did some semi-scientific testing with my own van setup last summer. One thing that hasnt really been mentioned is the actual performance under load and thermal stability, basically how much the liner warps or loses its shape when the van sits in a hot parking lot for 8 hours. Quick question for you though, are you planning on keeping the double stroller in that deep well permanently, or do you need to frequently swap between the 8-passenger middle seat positions and stow that third row? That realy impacts how the performance of the lip edges matters for you. In my experience with testing different materials, heres why the technical side matters:
