My old car just bit the dust and I start a new job on Monday so I am kinda panicking. I need a used Lexus RX 350 ASAP. Ive been looking at Carvana and some of those big sites but the prices are way higher than the KBB values Im seeing online and I dont know if they are actually worth it. Local dealers here in Phoenix keep adding these weird desert protection fees that add like 3k to the price which is crazy for my 28k budget. I heard private sales are cheaper but Im scared of getting a lemon without a warranty. Where are people actually finding the best prices right now without getting ripped off by hidden fees?

I have spent years tracking values for these SUVs and you might want to consider skipping those big corporate sites. Carvana usually charges a premium for convenience which wipes out any real deal. If you are hunting for a Lexus RX 350 2016-2018 Base AWD, I would suggest searching on the ClubLexus enthusiast forums or even Facebook Marketplace, but you have to be careful. Make sure to pull the service history from the Lexus drivers website using the VIN. It is free and shows every time the car touched a dealership. For a private sale, make sure to hire a mobile mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection before handing over cash. It is the only way to avoid a lemon. Those desert protection fees at Phoenix dealers are a scam, so I would suggest looking at private sellers in Scottsdale instead. Stick to your budget and dont let a dealer pressure you.
