My old SUV just bit the dust and I need a replacement like yesterday because I have to drive the kids to my parents place in Austin next Friday. I'm torn between a 2017 RX with 80k miles for $28k at a local lot and a 2019 with 60k miles on Carvana for $34k which is really pushing my $30k budget.

The local one is cheaper but the Carvana one looks way cleaner and I'm stressed about time. Is the newer year worth the extra debt or am I just panicking? Where are you guys actually finding the best RX deals right now because these prices are all over the place...

> Is the newer year worth the extra debt or am I just panicking? Honestly, dont let the panic drive you into overpaying! I absolutely love the Lexus RX 350 2016-2022 Generation because they are basically bulletproof, but 34k is pushing it. You are basically paying a premium for Carvana convenience. The 2017 is fantastic and looks almost identical anyway. Here is how I find the best deals:

  • Search the Lexus L/Certified site directly for that amazing unlimited mileage warranty.
  • Look at local Toyota dealerships for trade-ins; they often list a Lexus RX 350 AWD 2017 cheaper than luxury lots.
  • Set alerts on Autotrader for private sellers. Stick to that 30k budget! A well-maintained 2017 is a much smarter buy than going into debt for the 2019. Just make sure the service history is solid and youll be totally fine for that Austin trip!

To add to the point above: carvana prices are always gonna be higher because youre basically paying a convenience tax for that delivery. Since you are in a rush for the Austin trip, its super tempting to just click buy and be done with it, but that 6k difference is a lot of money to set on fire just to avoid a little stress. Definitely watch out for these traps with that local 2017 deal:

  • old tires that look fine but are actually 6+ years old
  • only getting one key (lexus keys are pricey to replace)
  • checking the lexus drivers site for the actual service history Honestly, 80k miles is nothing for an RX if it was treated right. It works just as well as the newer ones for a lot less cash. Just dont skip the inspection or you might end up stranded halfway to your parents house... that would be a total nightmare with kids in the back. Stick to your 30k limit.
