Hey everyone! I recently joined the Lincoln family with a new Aviator Grand Touring, and while I absolutely love the luxury feel of the cabin, I’m having a hard time finding a phone mount that actually fits the aesthetic. The interior is so well-designed with the leather-wrapped dash and that beautiful large touchscreen, but it doesn't leave much obvious room for traditional mounting solutions.
I really want to avoid those suction cup mounts that leave rings on the windshield, and I’m especially hesitant about using adhesives on the leather because I don’t want to cause any permanent damage or peeling down the road. I’ve looked into vent clips, but the vents in the Aviator are a bit slim, and I’m worried about my phone (an iPhone 15 Pro Max) being too heavy and either snapping a slat or blocking the infotainment screen.
I’ve heard people mention ProClip or potentially a cup holder mount, but I’d prefer not to lose a cup holder if I can help it. I’m looking for something that feels integrated and secure, especially since the Grand Touring has some decent pep when merging onto the highway!
For those of you driving a current-gen Aviator, what specific mount brands or setups are you using that don't clutter up the dash?
sooo, i totally get the struggle. the thing with those leather-wrapped dashes is that adhesives are basically a permanent commitment... once the interior heats up in the sun, the chemicals in the glue can actually react with the leather finish and cause peeling. not worth the risk on a GT! if youre looking for a budget-friendly way to keep things secure without the ProClip price tag mentioned earlier, i would suggest checking out a high-friction silicone pad. i've had good luck with the Loncaster Car Phone Holder. it doesnt use any sticky stuff, just a weighted, grippy bottom that sits on the dash. it handles the weight of a bigger phone like the iPhone+15+Pro+Max+256GB&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max 256GB surprisingly well, even when u hit the gas. just be careful to place it on a flatter section so it doesn't tip during hard cornering. it's a way cheaper way to keep your screen visible without ruining ur beautiful cabin. gl!
Yo, congrats on the new Aviator! Honestly, that Grand Touring pep is no joke, so you definitely need something that wont go flying when you hit the gas. In my experience, youre 100% right to be cautious about those slim vents... I’ve seen people snap the plastic slats because the iPhone+15+Pro+Max&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">iPhone 15 Pro Max is basically a heavy brick. I’m still kinda new to the Lincoln family myself, but I’ve spent years tinkering with car setups and I’m super paranoid about ruining a nice interior. For your situation, I would suggest looking at a setup that uses the dash seams instead of adhesives or suction. Over the years, I've tried many mounts, and the only thing that feels 'factory' in a high-end cabin is a vehicle-specific base. Here is what I recommend checking out: * ProClip Center Mount 855543 – This is the base that clips into the dashboard gaps. Since it uses friction and clips rather than glue, your leather is SAFE.
* iPhone+Holder+for+Rugged+Cases&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">ProClip Adjustable iPhone Holder for Rugged Cases – You’ll need to bolt this onto the base. It’s rock solid and won't wiggle.
* If you want MagSafe, definitely get the ProClip MagSafe Holder with Tilt Swivel and use your own charger. It feels way more integrated than a generic clip, and it wont block that beautiful screen. Just be careful during the install... maybe use a plastic pry tool so you dont nick the trim? It's a bit of an investment, but for a car this nice, it’s worth it to do it right. Good luck with the new ride! 👍
> I’m especially hesitant about using adhesives on the leather For your situation, ProClip is basically the standard but it's pricey. anyway, whats ur budget?? and do u need MagSafe specifically?? i've had bad luck with cheap clips before.
