Hey everyone! I recently picked up a 2023 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X and I’m absolutely loving it so far. It’s been great on my daily commute, but I’m really itching to get it out on some more technical trails and do some light overlanding this summer.

I’m looking to upgrade the utility side of things specifically for off-roading. I already have the factory Utili-track system, but I’m struggling to find the best way to utilize it for secure gear storage. I’m specifically looking for recommendations on a solid mid-height bed rack that won't interfere too much with my rearview visibility, and maybe some high-quality rock sliders since the factory steps feel a bit flimsy for the rocky terrain I’m planning to hit. I’ve also been looking at some bed-mounted recovery board mounts and perhaps a more durable bed cover that plays nice with a rack, but there are so many options out there it’s getting a bit overwhelming.

I want to keep the truck functional for hauling home improvement supplies on the weekends too, so modularity is a big plus for me. Does anyone have specific brands or setups they’ve had success with on their Frontier? What would you say are the 'must-have' utility accessories for someone just starting to build out their rig for the trail?

Nice choice on the PRO-4X. I've been tinkering with my 2023 too, and keeping that Utili-track functionality is actually pretty tricky. For racks, I would suggest looking at the CBI Offroad Nissan Frontier Bed Rack - Mid Height vs the Tuwa Pro Shiprock Mid Height Bed Rack. The CBI is super solid, but the Tuwa Pro is highkey better for modularity since it's height-adjustable. This helps if you need to haul tall stuff for home projects, you know? For sliders, the factory ones are basically just steps... lol. You might want to consider the White Knuckle Off Road Rock Sliders for Nissan Frontier in DOM tubing. They're way beefier than the Hefty Fabworks Nissan Frontier Rock Sliders. Just make sure to check the clearance with ur Utili-track. Also, for the bed cover/rack combo, the RetraxPRO XR Retractable Truck Bed Cover is reallyyy the gold standard cuz of those integrated T-slots. It's a bit pricey tho!! gl!

Soooo, I literally just found this thread and I am SO excited for your build!! The PRO-4X is an amazing truck, but honestly, before you hit those technical trails, you gotta think about safety and frame protection first. Technical rocks can actually do a ton of damage to your rocker panels if you aren't careful, so definitely consider professional installation for any heavy armor! I mean, I'm still kinda new to this too, but I've been looking at these options for a modular setup: * **Leitner Designs Active Cargo System Classic for Nissan Frontier**: Pros: The rear bar actually slides out of the way, which is perfect for hauling tall home improvement supplies! Cons: It's definitely one of the more expensive systems out there.
* **RCI Offroad 12 Inch Aluminum Bed Rack**: Pros: It's aluminum so it's lightweight and wont rust, which is safer for your truck's center of gravity. Cons: It's a fixed design, so you lose some vertical hauling space.
* **CBI Offroad Fab Nissan Frontier Rock Sliders (2022-2024)**: Pros: These are frame-mounted and way more reliable for technical rocks than factory steps. Cons: Ngl, they are pretty heavy and might affect your gas mileage a bit. Just be realy careful with weight limits on that Utili-track system... you dont want to overload it! Good luck!! 👍

For ur situation, i think generic 3/8-inch t-nuts are a total money saver tbh. Ngl, probably check local fab shops for sliders and modular racks... highkey way cheaper and better quality!!
